TE Jordan Cameron Free Agency Fits: Falcons, Broncos, Seahawks

facebooktwitterreddit

Free agent tight end Jordan Cameron has been one of the few bright spots for a sluggish Browns offense over the last couple of seasons. The Browns are going through turbulent times as an organization and Cameron has no interest in returning to the dysfunction in Cleveland, making him once of Free Agency’s top targets.

Cameron has suffered through concussion issues which saw his production drop a bit in 2014, but the athletic tight end, who is only 26 years old, still offers enough upside to entice a team into giving him a multiyear deal  — at the right price.

Plenty of teams will be in the market for a young, athletic, playmaking tight end. Since Cameron has been stuck in a bad situation in Cleveland for the past four years, he’ll likely be looking to take his talents to a team that has a chance to make some noise in the playoffs next season. I found three teams that could be a good fit for Cameron in free agency.

Atlanta Falcons

Since Tony Gonzalez retired, the Falcons have gotten minimal production out of their tight end position. Matt Ryan thrives when he has a solid intermediate target to throw to and Levine Toilolo simply hasn’t been that guy.

Enter Jordan Cameron who would be an immediate upgrade over Toilolo. Cameron to Atlanta makes a ton of sense. The Falcons hired Cleveland’s Kyle Shanahan as their offensive coordinator this offseason which would make for an easy scheme transition seeing as he’ll already know the playbook.

Cameron to Atlanta would upgrade the efficiency of the Falcons passing attack and get this team back on track to be a playoff contender.

Denver Broncos

The Broncos are in a “win now” mode as Peyton Manning’s decorated career is winding down towards the end. Pro Bowl tight end Julius Thomas could be searching for an immense payday, higher than what the Broncos could offer him.

Jordan Cameron wouldn’t be a bad consolation prize.

Adding Cameron would be a cheaper solution to solving their tight end problem. He can step right in and be a factor for a Broncos team looking to make every possible move to get this team back into the Super Bowl before Manning’s career is over.

Seattle Seahawks

If Russell Wilson is going to keep growing as a quarterback, the Seahawks are going to have to upgrade his supporting cast. Luke Wilson has some potential at tight end, but the Seahawks could use an established target for Russell Wilson to throw to.

Cameron would be a great fit in Seattle and would be an essential piece in the growth of Russell Wilson, who has a chance to be one of the top quarterbacks in the league.
