Monday Night Football: Falcons vs. Packers Predictions

Tonight’s Monday Night Football game will feature two teams that need wins just a bit more after Sunday. We’ll have Falcons vs. Packers predictions for the heck of it, but there’s definitely a lot on the line for both of these NFC contenders.

Matt Ryan needs to get the job done – can he find a way to out-duel Aaron Rodgers?

Matt Ryan: 29-39, 298 yards, 2 TDs

I fully expect the Falcons to pull all of their tricks out on Monday night. Things could get to desperation mode if Aaron Rodgers does his typical Rodgers-like things, a scenario that could find the 2008 draft pick slinging the ball night at Lambeau Field.

Look for a heavy dose of the air attack early and often, leading to a very productive night from Matty Ice.

Aaron Rodgers: 25-33, 317 yards, 3 TDs

Rodgers will see Ryan’s performance, and raise him a touchdown and a few more yards.

After all, we are talking about the Super Bowl favorite here in the Packers. As much as Atlanta will key in on Jordy Nelson and Co., it’s hard to see Rodgers having a bad night against an anything but sure Atlanta secondary.

Both running games will eclipse 150 yards, making for an offensive battle that sees both teams combine for 60+ points.

I’ll stick with a final score of 35-31, which means the rushing attacks will have to succeed in order for us to see late fireworks. It’s easy to trust the Packers on the ground. The Falcons may have to rely on a few big plays to get them where they need to be.

Watch out for one of Atlanta’s sleeper running backs to show up big in Green Bay … (Jacquizz Rodgers finally breaks out?)
