If they didn’t think he was elite before, NFL fans get an eyeful of why Ben Roethlisberger has changed that.  Not only does he have two Super Bowl rings, but now he’s emerging with the kind of stats that a Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning or Tom Brady have become known for.  Despite limited help from his defense or his offensive line, the 32-year old has put on the kind of clinic quarterbacks dream about when they were kids.

To throw six touchdown passes in one game is a feat that most can do two or three times in a career, if they’re lucky.  Roethlisberger is the first to accomplish it in back-to-back games ever.  This after setting another record by becoming the only quarterback in NFL history to top 500 yards passing twice.  The guy is simply on another planet right now and beyond that he is the sole reason the Pittsburgh Steelers are even in the playoff discussion.  Keep in mind this is the same team that lost to Tampa Bay and got hammered by Cleveland.  Now over the past three weeks they have scored 124 points and nearly all of them are courtesy of the right arm of Big Ben.

If that doesn’t make him a surefire favorite for the MVP, then the entire process needs to shut down.
