Several ideas for the NFL trade markets have surfaced recently.  Among them includes one that would send Johnny Manziel to the Big Apple.

Brian Hoyer playing better than Cleveland Browns expected

Not everybody, but certainly a majority of fans and analysts believed that it was only a matter of time before Brian Hoyer was out as starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns.  That would’ve soon ushered in the era of Johnny Football.  Low and behold, the Cleveland native Hoyer is full of surprises.  Despite having no Josh Gordon, he has paced the Browns to a 3-3 record with 1,439 yards passing and seven touchdowns to just two interceptions.  He has done the impossible.  He has made the Browns uncertain about their future at quarterback.

Hoyer is due for a contract extension in 2015.  At age 29 he’s not too old and likely could be had at a reasonable price.  The Browns have two first round picks, salary cap space and a returning Josh Gordon to look forward to.  Why mess with a good thing?

Jets aggressive pursuit of Percy Harvin shows active streak

The question is how to they get out of their inescapable investment in Johnny Manziel?  A trade would be their best hope.  While a 1st rounder is not likely, a 2nd rounder is plausible provided it’s from the right team.  That is where the Jets come.  They are trying to get out of their own quarterback purgatory with Geno Smith.  Shipping a 2nd rounder to Cleveland for the charismatic and electric Manziel could be what the team needs.  After all, New York is on a roll after adding dynamic receiver Percy Harvin from Seattle.

Imagine how crazy that city would be with those personalities all wearing the same jersey.  It’s an intriguing thought, but all depends on where the Browns stand with Hoyer on his next NFL contract.
