Heisman Watch: Texas A&M QB Kenny Hill’s Chances Done?

The world got to know Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott as a part of the “Heisman Watch” on Saturday with his performance, but it might just be Texas A&M Aggies QB Kenny Hill who had the biggest Heisman Trophy difference-making performance on the weekend. With his bad play, is it safe to say that his chances of winning the coveted trophy have gone down enough to, soon, eliminate him from contention?

He’s no Johnny Manziel, and heck, he might be no Prescott – who is being touted as Tim Tebow 2.0. After coming out the gates seemingly hotter than Manziel ever was, Hill has experienced a bit of a lull in his last few games. He completed barely 50.0% of his passes against Arkansas and despite putting up big numbers, didn’t look nearly as sharp as he did in the early-going.

With others around the country starting to heat up, it might be time to look at Hill’s Heisman Watch numbers and start to get skeptical. If he continues his poor decision-making, it’s all going to go downhill for not only his stats, but the entire Aggie offense.

This year, it seems the running backs are going to take over. As of now, it’s easy to say one of them gets their hands on the trophy and “runs away” with it at the end of the season. Todd Gurley is an obvious favorite, but Ameer Abdullah from Nebraska is making his way up the “big boards” – both for the 2015 NFL Draft and the Heisman Watch.

Amari Cooper is an outside contender that has undoubtedly jumped ahead of Hill – maybe even Marcus Mariota.

With games against Alabama and Ole Miss upcoming, Hill is going to have to make some sort of Manziel-like splash if he wants to stay in the race.
