Jaguars WRs Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson Must Shine

It’s been an interesting road for the Jacksonville Jaguars and overall, the Jaguars WRs this season. They’ve already been faced with a quarterback change, and things haven’t exactly worked out to the ultimate plan early on in the season. Can they get things going against the Pittsburgh Steelers? If they want to, it will likely be up to rookies Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson.

Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect on Sunday against Pittsburgh.

Allen Hurns

Hurns isn’t a burner, but he’ll get the job done when he needs to. Against a Pittsburgh secondary that fails to cover guys extremely well, Hurns could find a few openings in zone coverages for a 6+ catch day.

Hurns, a rookie out of Miami, doesn’t have breakout speed, but against a Steelers secondary that is anything but quick, this game is an opportunity. He’s only picked up 12 catches on the year, but five of them came last week under the Blake Bortles offense in San Diego. He’s going to get the targets, it’s just a matter of what the Steeler defense will throw at the offense. It’s very possible that Hurns sees a game with a line somewhere close to 7/105/1.

Allen Robinson

A-Rob was very fun to scout coming out of Penn State, because you never knew what you were going to get week-by-week. He proved to be a big-play target without elite speed during his time in college. Can he have his breakout day against the Steelers?

It’s possible considering the 21-year-old has been given the majority of the targets this season. He’s been given 6+ looks in three games this year, and has had at-least four grabs in those games. Facing what could be the worst secondary on the schedule against Pittsburgh this week, the opportunities could be endless.

Look for Robinson to work all over the field in this game, potentially securing a touchdown in the red zone.
