Injuries are a part of the NFL and they have a way of deciding big games.  Here are some big ones to watch.

Jackson working hard to prepare shoulder for Philadelphia Eagles

Everybody has known it for months.  DeSean Jackson has undoubtedly circled the games on his calendar against his former team the Philadelphia Eagles.  They ran him out of town despite a Pro Bowl season in 2013, which may explain much of why he joined the division rival Washington Redskins.  The problem is a shoulder injury suffered in week 2 threatens to keep him out of the first meeting between the two teams.  Jackson is working his body hard and plans to test the shoulder before the weekend.  Consensus opinion feel there won’t be enough pain to stop him from playing.

Jamaal Charles shows superhuman healing for Kansas City Chiefs

There is no denying that the Kansas City Chiefs offense runs through Jamaal Charles, so many were holding their breath when he left week 2 with an ankle injury.  Initial thoughts were he’d be out for a few weeks.  Charles squashed those rumors when he showed up for practice.  While that doesn’t guarantee he will play right away, it is an awfully good sign.

Vontaze Burfict in dangerous territory after second concussion

A key cog of the Cincinnati Bengals defense faces a very dangerous situation.  Linebacker Vontaze Burfict, their leading tackler suffered not one but two separate concussion in less than a two week span.  The loss of him for any length of time hurts, but the bigger question is how careful the Bengals will be.  Concussions are a slippery slope with players in the modern NFL, and those who suffer multiple ones create serious issues individually and team-wide.

Jared Allen and Brandon Marshall both miss practice

Injuries are what really sunk the Chicago Bears in 2013 so it’s always big NFL news whenever somebody of note appears on their injury report.  Brandon Marshall remains there with his ankle problem, missing practice on Wednesday.  Another notable name to watch is defensive end Jared Allen.  The veteran sack master had his best week yet in San Francisco but came away with a back problem.  He too missed practice for Chicago.  Those two situations bears monitoring ahead of a big Monday Night matchup with the Jets.
