Thursday night football is here again, and this week’s matchup pits the San Diego Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs, two of the most underachieving teams in the NFL this season.

Some circles believe the Chiefs are the worst team in the league right now, while others are saying the Chargers could make wholesale changes at the top, starting with GM A.J. Smith and head coach Norv Turner.

Oh what? There’s a game to play? Here is some fantasy football previewing, from yours truly.

Fantasy Studs

RB Jamaal Charles, Chiefs

Charles should be a top flight contributor. The Chargers surrendered 100+ rushing yards and a touchdown to Trent Richardson and the Browns last week, so look out for Charles.

WR Dwayne Bowe, Chiefs

Bowe is still a really good receiver, despite the off-field distractions he brings. It will be a great battle all night between he and Chargers cornerbacks.

RB Ryan Mathews, Chargers

If you have Ryan Mathews on your team, chances are he is one of your top two backs. You need this guy to produce, and as he continues to get healthier, I think the production is on the upswing.

Gotta Start ‘Em?

Philip Rivers, QB, Chargers

Rivers is one of the best QBs in the league, the problem is, he just doesn’t always play like it. He is so frustrating at times, and he gets really frustrated with himself and his circumstances. Even so, I think Rivers is a decent week-to-week play in fantasy football.

Malcom Floyd, WR, Chargers

Floyd is averaging nearly 16 yards per reception this year, leading the Chargers in receiving. He is becoming their top target on the outside.

Antonio Gates, TE, Chargers

Gates has been quiet this season. Maybe a game against a poor team like Kansas City can revive his 2012 campaign.
