Penn State’s Tyler Warren will have something to say about who is the best tight end prospect in college football.  In leading the No. 4 Penn State Nittany Lions to a 33-30 overtime victory over USC, this outstanding playmaker has the nation changing his name.

Coming into the season, the top 2025 NFL Draft tight end prospects to watch were Michigan’s Colston Loveland, Notre Dame’s Mitchell Evans and Iowa’s Luke Lachey, but Warren has put his name on that list and continue to bulldoze his way up the NFL Draft board, especially after the type of performance he put forth against USC.

With a historic 17 receptions for 224 yards and a touchdown, Warren showcased his athleticism and versatility as one of the most skilled playmakers in the Big 10.  Heck, as one of the most productive playmakers in the nation.

Tyler Warren rises over a defender in the end zone

With Penn State down 20-6 in the third quarter, the Lions put forth a little trickery with a double pass that result in this amazing touchdown reception by Warren:

Again, it is that athleticism that stands out in this reception.  His ability to run the seam, shed a defender and haul in the catch is next level perfection.  In all, the type of play that is proving just why Penn State coach James Franklin has been singing his praises.

"I've been talking about him being the best tight end in college football," Franklin said following the game, via CBS Sports. "But the reality is he's now part of a conversation of one of the best players in all of college football."

2025 NFL Draft: 3 teams that should be eyeing Tyler Warren

In what is shaping out as an intriguing tight end class, Warren’s versatility and high production as a pass catching tight end will have several teams highly interested in selecting the 6-foot-6, 257-pound tight end.

Indianapolis Colts:  With Mo Alie-Cox and Kylen Granson both approaching free agency, the Colts will look to dip into the 2025 NFL Draft tight end class.  If they do not take Loveland in the first round, Warren will be on their radar as he will remind Colts fans of the versatile, legendary Dallas Clark.

Kansas City Chiefs:  Well, Travis Kelce isn’t getting any younger and imagining a playmaker like Warren catching the ball from Patrick Mahomes is scary to say the least.  Ok, enough said there.

Denver Broncos: The Broncos will be looking for playmakers following the 2024 NFL season.  With Courtland Sutton approaching free agency, wide receiver may be a top priority, but landing a potential TE1 is not far behind.  With the way Warren has been playing, he could be a nice Day 2 pick for the Broncos.  That’s if he’s not considered a first round pick by the end of the season.
