In declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft, Arizona State receiver Jordyn Tyson will enter April’s draft as one of the top-rated, if not the top, wideouts in the draft. His dynamic playmaking is a big reason why NFL teams drafting in the top 10 will be fascinated by his ceiling in the league.
Standing at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Tyson’s strengths as a receiver is his route running, contested catch radius and his YAC (Yards After the Catch) effectiveness. Simply stated, when Tyson is on the field, he is one of the most electric pass catches in college football with durability being one of his glaring weaknesses.
Tyson redshirted in 2023 due to a knee injury and have suffered collarbone and hamstring injuries. That injury history will be scrutinized when teams are deciding between him and other top wideouts like USC’s Makai Lemon and Ohio State’s Carnell Tate, but his attributes when he is on the field makes him the logical choice for top receiver off the board in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Jordyn Tyson will enter the NFL with this “superpower”
The biggest attribute Tyson will bring to the NFL is his ability to get open even when he appears covered. As highlighted by Mel Kiper Jr. in his 2026 NFL draft Big Board rankings, the Arizona State star is an elite target on the field, especially in the red zone where he uses his body control and physicality to separate from defenders.
Kiper Jr writes:
“The Colorado transfer has lit up defenses for two seasons with the Sun Devils. Tyson's superpower is being open even when it looks like he's completely blanketed. It makes him essentially uncoverable in the red zone. He wins on 50-50 balls and outmuscles defensive backs. A hamstring injury cost him time this season, but he still posted solid numbers.”
Those solid numbers Kiper is talking about is 61 receptions for 711 yards and 8 touchdowns in 9 games played. This is following a 2025 season in which he caught 75 passes for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns. As one of the more dynamic, productive receivers over the past two seasons, the Arizona State star will be high on most NFL draft big boards at the wide receiver position.
Let’s look at which teams would be good fits for Jordyn Tyson
3 NFL teams in position to land Jordyn Tyson
New York Giants:
With a projected top 3 pick, the New York Giants find themselves in position to land another franchise caliber player on either side of the ball. How about another wide receiver? Malik Nabers will be returning from an ACL tear and once fully healthy he claims state to WR1, but adding more targets, options to Jaxson Dart’s arsenal will be a focus of the Giants in the offseason. Drafting a talent like Tyson not only gives them that option, but his talent paired with Nabers could give NFC East squad a lethal duo.
Other first round options for the Giants: Arvell Reese (LB), Makai Lemon (WR), Francis Mauigoa (OL)
Cleveland Browns:
Another team with a young quarterback and high draft pick are the Cleveland Browns. If Sheduer Sanders continues to show promise at the end of the 2025 NFL season, the Browns can use their two first round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft to focus on other positions. One of those positions is selecting a top wide receiver. The Browns added running back Quinshon Jenkins and tight end Harold Fannin Jr. to the mix via the 2025 NFL Draft. Adding Jordyn Tyson to the mix would make the Browns a fascinating offense to watch (if the QB position is settled).
Other first round options for the Browns: Carnell Tate (WR), Makai Lemon (WR), Dante Moore (QB)
Tennessee Titans:
The Titans can go in a few directions in the 2026 NFL Draft with their top pick in the draft, but a focus will be building around Cam Ward. They added a couple young receivers in Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike via the 2025 NFL Draft, but they will need a top dog to potentially replace Calvin Ridley. Despite his own injury history, Jordyn Tyson will bring WR1 ability to the Titans’ offense and give Ward a reliable target in the redzone.
Other first round options for the Titans: Rueben Bain Jr (EDGE), Arvell Reese (LB/EDGE), Caled Downs (S)
