All eyes on 2025 NFL Draft top 10 pick Ashton Jeanty when the Las Vegas Raiders (2-7) host the Dallas Cowboys (3-5-1) at Allegiant Stadium on Monday Night Football.

In a game both teams must win, the Raiders are hopeful their top pick in the draft starts to look like the dominant force he was coming out of Boise State.  In rushing for 547 yards and 4 touchdowns, the numbers aren’t bad for the rookie, but the team and anyone who has followed Jeanty through his college career expected more than 3.8 yards per carry.  Could that change Monday night?

Other than a 138-yard performance against the Chicago Bears, Jeany hasn’t come close to the 100-yard rushing mark in any of his other contests. Going up against a Cowboys’ defense that has been generous with rushing yards allowed and a defense that has struggled with missed tackles, it could be a perfect opportunity for the Raiders rookie to get it going.

What the Cowboys are saying about Ashton Jeanty

Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan talked about Jeanty and the challenge he can present.  The Cowboys were a team highly connected to Jeanty pre-draft and when he came in for a visit, Schottenheimer was left impressed.

“I loved our time when he came in here for an interview,” Schottenheimer said about Jeanty, as transcribed by Heavy. “I believe his makeup is going to turn him into an incredible pro. His talent jumps off the film. Everybody’s seen it from his time at Boise [State]—his explosiveness, his ability to change direction, his pad level that he plays with.

“Quite honestly, he’s doing okay. There have been some tough looks to run into, and that’s part of playing running back in the NFL. But I do think the sky’s the limit for this young man. Again, he’s a guy that I won’t be cheering for this weekend, but every other week I will be.”

Ashton Jeanty vs Cowboys’ defense

The Cowboys enter this Week 11 matchup allowing the fifth-most rushing yards (143.0) in the NFL.  They have also allowed the second-most total yards in the league at 397.4, but that was before the Cowboys traded for linebacker Logan Wilson and interior defensive lineman Quinnen Williams who Jeanty acknowledged when talking about the matchup earlier in the week.

“They just added Quinnen Williams on the interior,” Jeanty said, via Raiders Wire.  “I’m sure that’ll level up their [defensive] front.  There’s definitely places we can attack them and make great plays.  They’ve made some changes, so we’ll prepare for that.”

While the Raiders will have some challenges up front with Jackson Powers-Johnson missing from the offensive line, this projects as a big game for Jeanty who has rushed for over 60 yards in his last three games.  While the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft hasn’t been consistently dominant, there are glimpses of the player he was at Boise State.  That should manifest itself in this Monday Night matchup against a Cowboys team still figuring it out defensively.

The Raiders will get the ball to tight end Brock Bowers as much as possible, but they must stick with Jeanty and attacking the Cowboys by utilizing him in the run game and get him out in space in the passing game.  The prediction here is a 120-yard rushing game out of Jeanty with a touchdown.  The Raiders win a high-scoring fest 35-31 in what will be Jeanty’s breakout performance of the season.
