Top 10 No. 25 overall picks in NFL Draft history
By Mike Luciano
8. Jermane Mayberry, Philadelphia Eagles (1996)
Mayberry was picked out of tiny Texas A-M Kingsville, the same school that produced Hall of Famers Darrell Green and John Randle. Mayberry flew under the radar, as the excellent road-grading guard was starting to get a bit old by the time Donovan McNabb was taking off.
Mayberry, who was named a Pro Bowler and All-Pro in 2022, saw injuries rob him of the final few years of his career. At his peak, he was one of the best right guards in the game and an invaluable tool for some of Andy Reid's best teams as head coach of the Eagles.
Vontae Davis was a good No. 25 pick in the NFL Draft
7. Vontae Davis, Miami Dolphins (2009)
Davis tragically passed away in April 2024 at the age of 35, cutting short an impressive football life that helped the former Illinois star become one of the finest cornerbacks of the mid 2010s. After leaving the Dolphins, Davis shined as a member of the Indianapolis Colts.
Davis picked up 13 interceptions in six seasons with the Colts, making two Pro Bowls and emerging as one of the few defensive standouts from the Andrew Luck era along the way. Davis' sudden passing seemingly brought renewed interest in how effective he was as a player in his prime.
