NFL QB Power Rankings, Divisional Round: Stroud, Mayfield shine; top QBs making a statement
No. 1: Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
2023 NFL Stats: 16 games | 67.2 pct | 4,183 pass yards | 27 pass TDs | 14 INT
Wild Card Round vs Miami Dolphins: 56.1 pct | 262 pass yards | 1 TDs | 0 INT
As long as Patrick Mahomes is healthy and under center, the Kansas City Chiefs can’t be counted out in any matchup. With a cracked helmet and playing in frigid conditions, Mahomes was able to lead his team to a win against the Miami Dolphins to set up the divisional round matchup against Josh Allen and the Bills.
In a season in which the offense has been inconsistent, Mahomes could be in position to take the Chiefs on an improbable ride. In doing so, the Chiefs quarterback will join an exclusive list of quarterbacks with at least 13 playoff wins with a chance to get to 15 wins if the Chiefs are able to win the Super Bowl.
If he gets past the Bills, he will tie Brett Farve and Ben Roethlisberger. But above that, Mahomes is out to prove that he can win with the offensive weapons he has around him aside from Travis Kelce. With the temps in Buffalo expected to be just as frigid as it was in Kansas City last week, Mahomes will also be making his first road playoff appearance. A challenge he’s ready for.
"I'm sure it'll be like minus-3 or minus-4 and it's going to be windy and cold," Mahomes said. "It's a great challenge. But I don't know if it beats the cold that we played in this last week."
Sounds like Mahomes is ready to heat it up in Buffalo.
