The 2023 NFL regular season has come to an end, and with the college football national championship occurring Monday night, it is officially mock draft season for non-playoff teams! In today’s article, the Bears opt for a fresh start behind center, and the Falcons swoop in to provide that for both Chicago and Justin Fields.

Post-Regular Season Mock Draft: Patriots add Marvin Harrison Jr., Bears start over with Caleb Williams

The current 2024 NFL Draft order can be found at Tankathon, as the top 18 selections are locked in place. Without further ado, let’s kick off a wild mock draft with a new franchise centerpiece headed to the Windy City.

No. 1: Chicago Bears (via CAR) — Caleb Williams, QB, USC

In tandem with this selection, the Bears also trade QB Justin Fields to Atlanta for a conditional third-round selection in 2025. If Fields plays 75 percent of snaps, the pick will turn into a second-rounder. Otherwise, it remains as a third.

Caleb Williams is not without his faults, but the USC signal-caller is the most talented quarterback in a deep class. He can create out of structure at an elite level, always keeping his eyes peeled downfield while scrambling. Williams will set out to be what Fields wasn’t in Chicago — a long-term answer.

Commanders Kick Off Rebuild By Replacing Sam Howell With Drake Maye

No. 2: Washington Commanders — Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina

The Commanders waste no time turning in the card for Drake Maye. The North Carolina alum is tall, accurate, and boasts deceptive ability as a runner. He’s the perfect piece for whatever regime takes over in D.C.

No. 3: New England Patriots — Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State

No quarterback? Really? More on that later in the mock draft. As for No. 3 overall, the Patriots choose the top player available — regardless of position. Marvin Harrison Jr. is a big-bodied, route-running savant. His sure hands are needed in New England.
