Kansas City Chiefs 7-Round Mock Draft: Brett Veach shoots for the moon
By Ryan Heckman
Here's a pick Chiefs fans will appreciate. Kansas City finds a running mate for Isiah Pacheco in the fifth round, with a guy who won't have to travel too far out of college. Missouri running back Cody Schrader comes into the league as one of those players who wouldn't have blown you away at the Combine, but the guy is a pure, raw football player.
Schrader is a smart back with excellent vision and patience. He excels in picking and choosing when to attack a hole, and when he does, Schrader doesn't mess around. The sixth-year senior plays the game in a fiery manner. He's as competitive as they come, which will allow him to fit next to Pacheco perfectly.
The Chiefs now have two backs who play the game with an edge. They've got a pair of backs who have that "never die easy" mentality.
Schrader is a little smaller at 5-foot-8 but packs a punch at over 200 pounds. He's also a willing and capable pass protector, making him an ideal option on third downs. Last year, Schrader finished eighth in Heisman voting, believe it or not, after he ran for 1,627 yards and 14 touchdowns with the Tigers.
