New York Giants: What happens if Sequon Barkly leaves?

Donovan Edwards doesn’t have electrifying speed, but his power, versatility catching the ball and ability to break tackles in the open field makes him intriguing to a team like the New York Giants.

With the future of Saquon Barkley up in the air once again, the Giants will look to fill that void this offseason.  While Edwards is not as highly touted as Barkley coming out of college, he does have that dual-threat ability that could make him a factor in New York.  Even if Barkley does return or is hit with the franchise tag again, the Giants could look to groom a young running back under him and feature him as a third-down back.

As far as instant success in New York, that would again, depend on the status of Barkley and what direction the Giants go in as far as their quarterback situation.  Do they stick with Daniel Jones another year, or do they move on and draft a quarterback?

Whichever direction the Giants go in, they will look to surround that quarterback with as much offensive playmakers as possible.  Adding a player like Edwards in the mid-round of the 2024 NFL Draft could serve as a steal for Brian Daboll and company.
