Cowboys address need at center and add linebacker depth
Another free agent the team could lose this offseason is center Tyler Biadasz. If Biadasz does leave the team has no one on their roster who is capable of moving into that spot. For that reason look for the team to address the center position early in the 2024 NFL Draft.
"He’s gonna set the standard with how he works. He’s extremely intelligent. From a football standpoint, for us, he was a quarterback for our offensive line. He made all our identification, in both the run game and the pass game. He has a deep understanding of making sure we get our five on their five. "
- WVU coach Neal Brown on Zach Frazier
West Virginia’s Zach Frazier has been one of the best centers in college football over the past couple of seasons. This season he was named to the All-Big 12 team for the second straight year after recording 57 knockdown blocks. As a pro prospect, he plays with great leverage and has the intelligence to make all the line calls in the Cowboys system.
On the defensive side of the ball, the team’s top need is linebacker. They will need to find a big run-stuffing middle linebacker to improve their average run defense last season. They also might be looking for a replacement for Leighton Vander Esch who is coming off a neck injury and is scheduled to be a free agent.
When it comes to stopping the run not many linebackers do it better than Ohio State’s Tommy Eichenberg who was named the Big Ten Conference's Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year and has been named All-Big Ten both of the last two years. What makes him such a force vs the run is the aggression that sees him consistently fly downhill to make the sure tackle.
