Round 2 Pick 40: Bralen Trice, DE, Washington

Last season the Commanders could not protect the passer or get after the passer which is one of the main reasons why they lost the last eight games of the year. The team traded aways its top two defensive ends Chase Young and Montez Sweat and after those trades, Washington was only able to get two sacks from the defensive end position. In addition, Casey Toothill who is the only Commanders defensive end to finish the season with over 1.5 sacks on the year is scheduled to be a free agent.

Washington’s Bralen Trice has been one of the better pass rushers in the Pac 12 the past two seasons. In 2022 he finished the year with ten sacks and according to Pro Football Focus, he led the nation with 70 pressures and had the highest pass-rush win rate. This season he was named third-team All-American after getting to the quarterback seven times.
