With the 2024 NFL season less than a month away, one must wonder how the Denver Broncos will pan out following the release of former Super Bowl Champion Russell Wilson, as his tenure with the organization was a massive letdown.

Considering the Broncos are in a position to start fresh by drafting quarterback Bo Nix in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, it's worth noting that Oregon produck has been impressive this ongoing preseason.

Denver Broncos announce Bo Nix as Week 1 starter

Since winning the 50th Super Bowl with Peyton Manning as their starting quarterback, it's no secret that the Broncos have suffered a downward spiral since Peyton Manning retired. Having gone through many different starting quarterbacks over the years, even signing former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson to a lucrative deal, nothing has panned out, especially as the Broncos haven't made a post-season appearance since winning the Super Bowl in 2016.

Is Bo Nix seserving of the starting role?

With Bo Nix in the picture, all that could lead the Broncos in a more positive direction this upcoming season. As the Broncos are currently 3-0 this preseason, the rookie QB has shined on the field in the two games he played, which most likely led to him getting the starting position.

During a Week 1 preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts, where the Broncos won 24-20, Bo Nix completed 15 complete passes out of 21 throws by garnering 125 passing yards and a touchdown. During his second preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, Nix completed 8 out of 9 throws, with 80 yards and a touchdown.

Coming off of a spectacular senior year playing for Oregon, where he was the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2023, based on his recent performances during the preseason, one could argue he's deserving of the starting quarterback position for the Broncos.

Although there is a possibility Nix could end up being a disappointment, Denver looks to be on a path to digging out of a hole they've been in for almost a decade and that is finally securing a franchise QB for the first time since the days of Peyton Manning.
