Round 3 Pick 66: Josh Newton, CB, TCU

While one of the biggest needs for Arizona this offseason is to upgrade their run defense, their pass defense is far from stellar. The Cardinals currently are allowing opponents to complete 69 percent of their passes and are giving up 7.1 yards per pass attempt. On the positive side, Arizona does have two young corners in Garrett Williams and Kei’Trel Clark who they hope develop into significant contributors.

TCU’s Josh Newton is a physical corner who is unafraid to challenge wide receivers at the catch point. This style of play has allowed him to break up 24 passes over the last two seasons. In addition to helping out on defense, he should be able to play a significant role on special teams as a rookie.

Round 3 Pick 69: Christian Haynes, OG, UConn

Last year the Cardinals drafted Paris Johnson in the first round, and in the 2024 NFL Draft the team continues to build their offensive line by taking two interior offensive lineman in the third round. Center Hjalte Froholdt has consistently graded out as one of the Cardinals' worst offensive linemen so adding a center should be a priority in this year’s draft.

While UConn’s Christian Haynes has primarly played offensive guard for the Huskies, look for him to get reps as a center at the Senior Bowl. This should be a natural fit for Haynes as he has the mobility to get to the second level easily and also is one of the better run blockers in the 2024 NFL Draft.

""Christian is just an incredible human being, great integrity, cares about this program, this team, and his teammates. He takes great pride in his work ethic and has become a dominant offensive guard/center. He might be a center at the next level. He puts in the time to perfect his craft. He comes to work every day as the same guy. As a coach you love being around guys like that.""

Round 3 Pick 81: Donovan Jackson, OG, Ohio State

With their third pick of the third round the Arizona Cardinals add their second interior offensive lineman. With this selection the Cardinals hope to find someone to play the left guard spot opposite of Will Hernandez.

Ohio State offensive guard Donovan Jackson is a strong run blocker who with Haynes would give the Cardinals two of the most physical offensive lineman in the 2024 NFL Draft. Along with his strength as a run blocker Jackson is also a proficient pass blocker who is almost impossible to bullrush.
