AFC East Roundup: 1 player Bills, Dolphins, Jets & Patriots must re-sign in 2024 NFL Free agency
New York Jets: Bryce Huff, LB
Coming off a 10.0 sack season, the New York Jets will have a decision to make when it comes to pass rusher Bryce Huff who really emerged in the 2023 NFL season.
Talk about emerging at just the right time, the 25-year-old LB/DE out of Memphis will be in for a big pay day. Will the Jets open the check book and keep him in New York? That is a big question going into the offseason, especially with all the work the Jets will need to do on the offensive side of the ball even with Aaron Rodgers returning.
The bigger question is do the Jets even see Huff as a top priority? They should and what will be a long negotiation process, Huff at least knows he’ll get what he’s worth from his current team or another team in the NFL because the film speaks for itself.
“I don’t think that will be an issue,” Huff said regarding his contract status. “I feel like my film speaks for itself. I’ve done really well against great players in the league. I’ve put a lot of good stuff on film. I’m not really worried about the negotiations. I feel like I have a lot of bullets in the chamber, so to speak, when it comes to proving myself.”
Ranked as the 14th-best pass rusher in the NFL by Pro Football Focus, Huff will get his and if the Jets want to be a factor in the AFC East in 2024, Huff is a player on the defensive side that can help them be a factor, especially going up against quarterbacks like Josh Allen and Tua Tagovailoa twice a year.
In all, a big offseason for each of the four AFC East teams. Each player name above could end up on another team in the division, which is the biggest reason these teams may want to take care of each of these players.
