Nothing stirs up excitement like the NFL Draft in the thrilling football world. As we approach the 2024 season, the AFC East division is brimming with anticipation.
At NFL Mocks, we will comprehensively analyze and Mock Draft for each AFC East team, including the New England Patriots, the New York Jets, the Buffalo Bills, and the Miami Dolphins. Let's delve into the potential picks, their strengths, possible impacts, and more.
New England Patriots: Caleb Williams
At No. 2 overall, the New England Patriots will draft up from No. 6 and select USC's quarterback, Caleb Williams.
Williams boasts an exceptional playmaking ability, with an uncanny knack for creating plays that leave spectators and opponents alike in awe. His Houdini-esque style—combined with his vision, arm angles, and arm talent—makes him a force to be reckoned with on the football field.
As Chicago made a bold strategy to pass on Williams and stick with Justin Fields, they will select Marvin Harrison Jr. To create an offensive arsenal of weapons for Fields.
While Williams' talent is undeniable, there is a widespread belief that he might be somewhat overhyped. He's not as refined a prospect as Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, or Andrew Luck were in their times. His pace in the USC offense is relatively slow, and the NFL game is notoriously faster than college-level football. This lag in speed could potentially pose a problem for Williams.

Even with these concerns, Williams could signal a new era for the Patriots. A fresh start might be precisely what the Patriots need, especially considering their past offensive struggles. The addition of Williams could inject a much-needed spark into their game. Bill Belichick can polish and elevate Williams to rival Brady as the Goat.
The New York Jets have a clear game plan for the 2024 NFL Draft. Their focus appears to be solidifying their offensive line—a strategy that makes sense given their recent struggles in this area. The Jets should be eyeing Penn State's offensive tackle, Olu Fashanu, as their No. 17 pick.
However, it's clear that Zack Wilson is not the guy, and with Aaron Rodgers returning under center in 2024, the Jets look to groom their next signal-caller under the Legendary Rodgers for a season.
So, with the No.17 overall pick in the 2024 AFC East Mock Draft, the New York Jets select Michigan quarterback J.J. Mccarthy.
The Broadway JJ? Giving one of the most effective in the draft a chance to learn from Rodgers will prove invaluable, and the Jets, after many decades of searching and experimenting, have the proper heir to Joe Namath.
McCarthy is a force to be reckoned with. His performances have led the Wolverines to a Big Ten Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoffs. McCarthy's precision, poise under pressure, and ability to change the game's dynamics have earned him a special place in the hearts of many fans.
J.J. McCarthy's scouting report highlights his strengths, including a whip-like arm that can fit throws into tight coverage, a crisp release, and the athleticism to bend and accelerate out of would-be sacks. He possesses good aerial accuracy and can layer velocity and touch on throws to hit receivers in stride. He also can look off safeties and work high to low on progressions. Additionally, he has good competitive toughness as a runner and is willing to finish forward.

He will fit perfectly in the Jets offense; talented weapons will surround him; the Jers will add more protection in the 2024 and 2025 draft, and Broadway J.J. will step into a second-year starting job in the perfect situation.
At No. 24, the Buffalo Bills are expected to move to bolster their offensive line strategically. With a keen eye on the future and the No.24 overall pick, the Bills opt for Alabama's OT JC Latham, a player known for his power and prowess in both the run game and pass protection.
Adding Latham to their roster could offer the Bills an immediate upgrade to their offensive line. His presence would provide the Bills with a much-needed boost, particularly in protecting their quarterback and allowing for the development of more extensive plays.
During the summer, conversations abounded about who would occupy the second tier of offensive tackles for the 2024 NFL Draft. Joe Alt from Notre Dame and Olumuyiwa Fashanu from Penn State were the presumptive top two, but the possibility of JC Latham from Alabama joining that tier was discussed. Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing in at 360 pounds, Latham is surprisingly elegant. He has long arms and plays with great patience, never allowing defenders to get past him.

In seven starts for the Crimson Tide, he has achieved a team-high of 27 knockdowns in only six games and has allowed just one sack in 227 pass block snaps (per PFF). Over the offseason, he added 26 pounds of muscle, making him a viable option to play guard or tackle at the next level.
Should a team miss out on the top two offensive tackles in the draft, they might consider looking to Latham as an alternative. This pick will single-handedly extend the longevity and efficiency of the career of QB Josh Allen.
The Miami Dolphins' focus for the 2024 NFL Draft seems to strengthen their defense. With the No. 27 pick, the Miami Dolphins select Illinois DL Jer'Zhan Newton, known for his explosiveness and first-step quickness.
Newton, who was recruited by ESPN as a 3-star recruit and given a 3-star rating by 247 Sports, attended Clearwater Central Catholic High School and joined Illinois. During his freshman year in 2020, he took part in 8 games, playing 329 snaps, and ended the season with 15 tackles and 11 assists, alongside 13 stops. As a pass rusher, he had six total pressures, 5 QB hurries, no QB hits, and one sack.
The following year, Newton featured in 12 games and took part in 611 snaps. He recorded 27 tackles, 17 assists, and 19 stops, as well as 15 total pressures, 9 QB hurries, 3 QB hits, and three sacks.
In 2022, he participated in 12 games, contributing to 666 snaps, with 35 tackles, 15 assists, and 34 stops. As a pass rusher, he registered 54 total pressures, 32 QB hurries, 18 QB hits, and four sacks. His strengths are his power, initial quickness, violent hands, broad base, and low center of gravity, all used with impressive precision.
His motor is excellent, and his spin move is already of an NFL standard. His balance from high school wrestling days is especially noteworthy, as he rarely goes to the ground.

Newton's addition to the Dolphins' lineup could be a game-changer for their defensive strategy. His length, athleticism, and strength make him a versatile player on the line, and his inclusion could significantly enhance the Dolphins' defensive capabilities.
