With the 74th pick in the NFL Mocks midseason mock draft for the AFC West, the Los Angeles Chargers Select safety Tyler Nubin, Minnesota. The Chargers had three positions to improve in this draft and went down the list, somehow getting a steal at each position.

Nubin has been fortunate to have had some of the top NFL defensive backs as his teammates throughout his five-year college career, such as Antoine Winfield Jr., Benjamin St-Juste, Jordan Howden, and Terell Smith. However, Nubin's hard work and dedication made him a first-team All-Big Ten honoree. From 2019 to 2023, he achieved a school record of 13 interceptions and 11 pass deflections.

His NFL projection is further supported when examining his skills on film. He can make tough challenges on both receivers and quarterbacks and has the speed to take a pick to the end zone.

With his long arms and powerful hands, Nubin can switch between in-the-box safety and in-man coverage. He can also track the ball downfield and has the ball skills to break up routes. He is also an impressive tackler in run support.

Nubin is a fine upgrade to AJ Finley or Alohi Gilman. He can improve the defense, specifically in high-scoring games late in the 4th quarter, you know, the games the Chargers seem to find themselves in constantly and lose 54 percent of the time.
