As we approach the cold post-midpoint of the NFL season, it's time to speculate about the future of the league. The NFC East has always been a competitive division, and the 2024 season has been no less exciting. As we continue the NFL Mocks mid-season mock drafts, we focus on the NFC East, focusing on the Giants and Commanders rebuilds while the Cowboys and Eagles push towards the NFC Championship.
The Giants at 2-8 will get the No.2 overall pick. There is a huge decision to make, which centers around Danny Dimes. Is it time to move on from Saquan and Jones or build for them?
The Commanders are drafting 10th overall, with additional draft capital from the Chase/Sweat trades, but now have to rebuild their defense and get some protection for Sam Kirk Cousins Jr Howell.
Cowboys are looking like a contender at times this season, and in a weak NFC, should make the playoffs, but their notoriously bad Decembers and getting the Eagles in the first round have them drafting at No.22.
Eagles have the best record in the NFL at 8-1 and are sure-fire Super Bowl contenders. In this mock draft, we are designating them as Super Bowl victors and the draft at No. 32. Sadly, the great Jason Kelce uses this as a platform to spring his media career and retires after 12 seasons, two Super Bowl rings and the No. 1 ranked sports podcast.
The Bears draft at number 1 and take Caleb Williams, so the Giants are now on the clock in the NFL Mocks mid-season mock draft for the NFC East.
With the No.2 pick in the NFL Mocks mid-season mock draft for the NFC East, the Giants select Marvin Harrison Jr, WR Ohio State. The Danny Dimes era continues as the Giants for-go Drake Maye and get their first NFL-level WR since OBJ. Yes we know the Bears took Harrison in the NFC North mock draft, but as Sonny Weaver always said we live in a different world then we did last week.

Harrison, the son of a legendary NFL wide receiver, was highly sought after and ultimately joined the Buckeyes. His dad is enshrined in the Hall of Fame. Harrison Jr. Is far more gifted than his father, but he won't have Peyton Manning feeding him, possibly Arch Manning.
In 2022, his on-field performance made him a strong contender for the Biletnikoff Award, as he achieved 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns off 77 receptions. In 2023, he has been sensational for the No. 1 ranked Buckeyes with 1063 yards and 12 touchdowns on 59 receptions. Additionally, his 3.94 shuttle time, 10'8″ broad jump, and possibly high 4.3 speed, as listed in Bruce Feldman's College Football Freaks, make him a formidable player.
The evidence of his quality is evident. His output speaks for itself. Everyone who knows Harrison has nothing but glowing reports of his innate abilities, commitment to hard work, and aspiration for greatness. Let's look at the details and see if what we've heard about Harrison is true - that he is an up-and-coming prospect destined for excellence in the NFL.

No matter the position, Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State is considered the number one prospect for the 2024 NFL Draft and is said to be a once-in-a-generation talent. The Giants absolutely and unquestionably make the right call here; if Danny Dimes can't elevate to Josh Allen's level in 2024, the Giants will be looking at Shedeur Sanders and Quinn Ewers in 2025.
The Commanders will use the No. 10 overall pick in the NFL Mocks mid-season mock draft for the NFC East to select FSU EDGE Jared Verse. You must follow up with our second-round picks to see how well the Commanders managed the Chase Young situation. For Now, they have significantly upgraded their EDGE at a much better price.
JARED VERSE.

That's the tweet. #NoleFamily | #KeepCLIMBing pic.twitter.com/Npv3icIMbj
Verse's performance in the FCS opened up an NFL audition with Florida State, and he found success in the ACC in 2022, achieving nine sacks and 17 TFLs while being named to the first-team All-ACC.
Had he declared for the 2023 NFL Draft, he would have been a likely first-round pick to the Raiders instead of Tyree Wilson. Nevertheless, he chose to stay with the Seminoles and compete for the EDGE1 title in 2024. He has them ranked No.4 in the Nation and headed to the BCS playoffs with 4.5 sacks.
Despite his downtick on the stat sheet, Verse has a lightning-fast snap, high-energy athleticism, and the ability to put tackles in a bind with his unpredictability. He also has a well-sized frame and length and can sustain power exertions and corners underneath extensions.

It's odd Verse stayed at FSU and performed better but will go lower in the draft, but here we are, and the Commanders are ecstatic at the outcome. Verse will be a Javon Kerse-like freak in the NFL.
The Cowboys are up at No.22 and selected Jer'Zhan NewtonDT out of Illinois. Cowboys are beefing up their D-line, and there is no better pick at No.22.
Last season, Jer'Zhan Newton put up some of the best numbers of his career, totaling 61 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, three pass deflections, and two fumble recoveries. At 6'2″, 295 pounds, he is a versatile player who can use his burst, ankle flexion, and hands to find his way to the ball carrier.
In 2023, he has 5.5 sacks and an FF for the Fighting Illini while being a consistent run stuffer. He is also strong and stout enough to stop the run. Newton is at his best when he has a nose tackle who can occupy blockers, but he is also very talented at getting through jams and making stops. His agility and dexterity make him an unorthodox opponent for even the strongest offensive linemen.

He has great natural leverage and can line up in different spots on the field. Newton is an explosive athlete who is highly motivated to get to the ball. His torso flexibility allows him to move quickly and recognize blocking angles rapidly. He can create a leverage mismatch due to his excellent awareness of weight distribution.
Newton gives me Vince Worfolk vibes; he's a natural talent and will quietly build a wall in Texas so the Cowboys can scheme a threatening defense with Micha Parsons at the helm. The Cowboys finally get the Vernon Littlefield they deserve.
The 2023 Super Bowl Champion Philidelphia Eagles, with the 32nd puck in the NFL Mocks mid-season mock draft for the NFC East, select Georgia C Sedrick Van Pran. Again, The Eagles snake a prime Georgia Bulldog in the draft; this one they may have taken too early.
Sedrick Van Pran, the center for the Georgia Bulldogs, has the perfect build for his position, with his squatty frame granting him leverage as well as functional strength to protect the quarterback pocket. This seasoned starter is the foundation of the Georgia dynasty. His contributions may not be overt, but the stability he brings has been a boon to the team. His quick grasp of the game was evident last season when he started all 15 games for the national championship-winning Bulldogs as a redshirt freshman. As he is now eligible for the NFL Draft, Van Pran was already on the radar as a four-star recruit from New Orleans in high school. He is ahead of the game as a 2023 NFL Draft prospect.
Standing at 6'4" and 310 pounds, the center has a solid and compact frame that is complemented by his athleticism. His speed and explosiveness off the snap allow him to get outside the 2i and seal blocks. He is agile enough to adjust blocking angles and track linebackers at the second level. Van Pran is a smooth mover facing defenders across the formation and possesses the core strength to absorb power rushes. Furthermore, his strong base and proportional frame aid in his ability to hold his ground.
The Eagles take the best center in years; even if it was a reach, they know Van Pran wouldn't be there with their next pick at No. 51. The get the Jason Kelce replacement, now they just need to teach him the brotherly-shove.
Stay tuned for Day 2 of the NFL Mocks mid-season mock draft for the NFC East, the Commanders use the Chase Young pick, and the Eagles add another weapon.
