2024 NFL Mock Draft: Day 2 selections for each AFC North team; Steelers stock up
By Beau Adams
With the No.55 pick in the NFL Mocks Midseason mock draft for the AFC North, the Bengals select Donovan Jackson, guard at Ohio State. Joe Burrows doesn't mind taking a sack; getting him protection is always wise.
Coming out of high school, Donovan Jackson was highly regarded as a five-star recruit due to his remarkable physical attributes. Measuring 6'4" and 320 pounds with arms that reportedly reach 36", Jackson has the leverage and length to be a dominant force. He also possesses lateral mobility and hand usage to control opposing rushers.
Although he may not have elite flexibility, he plays low and with enough explosiveness to succeed in close quarters and space. His build prevents linemen from getting in his frame and punishes defenders when he gets out in space.
The Bengals used their first two picks on the Oline; they are serious about keeping Burrows on the field. They neglected to replace Tee Higgins here, with Malachi Corle, Roman Wilson, and Troy Franklin still on board. With their need at TE, too, it's questionable they didn't grab FSU Hybrid Jordan Wilson.
