Cam Ward is coming off the best performance of his pro career. Can the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft lead the Tennessee Titans to an upset win over the Jacksonville Jaguars?
When it comes to top rookie performances of Week 13, Ward is in position to really shine against a Jaguars team that has struggled with consistency despite their 7-4 record. With a playoff spot on the line, Jacksonville can’t overlook a Titans team that has more fight in them than their 1-10 record suggests. More importantly, they can’t overlook Ward who had himself a day in a Week 12 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
In that game, Ward completed 66.7 percent of his passes in throwing for 256 yards and a touchdown. Although the Jaguars’ defense have yet to face a rookie passer, the improvisation and instincts Ward showed against a better Seahawks’ defense could lead to a very competitive game if the Jaguars can’t find a way to rattle the talented rookie.
Cam Ward and the state of the Titans
Despite the losses and losing top receiver Calvin Ridley to a season-ending broken fibula, the offense is showing some good things, particularly Wards’ growing chemistry with fellow rookie Elic Ayomanor. Ward complimented the growth between the two earlier in the season.
“I’ve always had confidence in him since day one,” Ward said when talking about Ayomanor. “I knew it from the jump. Me and him went to the rookie premier. We had workouts. Me and him both wake up, work out, and we throw in the hotel room. I just knew me and him would connect on a lot of plays this season.”
To beat the Jaguars, that connection between Ward and Ayomanor will need to be on high in this Week 13 AFC South matchup.
