Cam Ward put his big boy pants on in a comeback win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5. Does his clutch performance make him a must-start in NFL fantasy football in Week 6?
With just two passing touchdowns and just one game which he has thrown for over 220 yards, the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft has been a player to sit. But, with that one game throwing for over 220 yards being the last game, there may be a sign that Ward is heating up. The more his confidence grows and the more consistency the Titans have within the offense, Ward could heat up during the middle of the NFL season.
Could that start in Week 6 against a Raiders’ team also struggling with consistency? In out-dueling Kyler Murray in the win over the Cardinals, Ward won’t be sneaking up on Pete Carroll and the Raiders on Sunday.
"He's a very unique player. He's got a unique style about him," Carroll said of the Titans quarterback. "Very athletic, very confident. He throws tough throws, and he makes tough throws. He'll surprise you with his ability to find receivers in all those predicaments, but he finds ways to makes things happen."
Can Ward shine in Vegas? Can the other two starting rookie QB’s (Jaxson Dart and Dillon Gabriel) lead upsets over the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers?
NFL Week 6 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em
QB– Cam Ward, QB29, Tennessee Titans (1-4) vs. Las Vegas Raiders (1-4)
In a battle of 1-4 teams, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft will look for back-to-back wins early in his NFL career. After leading the Titans to a comeback victory over the Arizona Cardinals, Ward is looking to remain consistent and make the type of plays that made him a player to watch entering the season.
In averaging 175.8 passing yards per game, Ward hasn’t been eye-popping as the top pick from the draft, but his confidence and comfort is rising. Going up against a Raiders’ team that is struggling could lead to his highest fantasy point output of the season. The projection is 11.8 points which he should meet or exceed this week.
QB – Jaxson Dart, QB21, New York Giants (1-4) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (4-1)
The temptation here is to sit Jaxson Dart, but with the Giants playing at home in primetime against an NFC East rival who just happen to be the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, Dart will find a way to shine in the spotlight. Both the Giants and Eagles are coming off losses, so this should be an interesting game.
In just two games started, Dart has passed for 313 yards with 3 touchdowns. More impressively, he has made plays with his legs which adds to his fantasy value. It won’t be an easy task going up against a Vic Fangio defense, but the rookie should put up favorable fantasy points despite taking a step back in a loss against the Saints.
NFL Week 6 Fantasy Football Sit ‘Em
QB– Dillon Gabriel, QB28, Cleveland Browns (1-4) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1)
After a strong debut, rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel is in for a tough task going into Pittsburgh to take on the division leading Steelers in Week 6. Although this is a sit em this week, Gabriel is capable of a good game against the Steelers. Last week, against a stout Vikings’ defense, Gabriel threw for 209 yards and 3 touchdowns. He did that in a neutral atmosphere as the Browns took on the Vikings in London.
Can the rookie stay poised in a hostile environment against a team that has been top notch in takeaways?
While the Steelers are a defense that can be passed on, T.J. Watt coming off the edge could rush Gabriel into some errant throws, especially if the Steelers limit the Browns’ rushing attack. If they can’t, then Gabriel will have a chance to make plays if he is patient. But, given the atmosphere and the spot, the rookie will be forced into some rookie mistakes.
