No team is sitting in a better position heading into the 2027 NFL Draft than the New York Jets. The franchise currently owns three projected first-round selections, including what could end up being the third overall pick along with two additional selections expected to land inside the top 15.

With that kind of draft capital, the Jets will have the flexibility to attack multiple needs, but the biggest priority will likely be finding their long-term franchise quarterback. Right now, the QB who makes the most sense for the organization is Dante Moore of the Oregon Ducks.

What makes Dante Moore such an intriguing fit for the Jets

The Jets have a couple of reasons to be interested in Moore. The first is their current quarterback situation. Geno Smith struggled last season with the Las Vegas Raiders and will turn 36 this year. While the Jets did draft Cade Klubnik in the fourth round this year, unless he completely balls out this season, it is hard to see the organization viewing him as their starting quarterback going into 2027.

Another reason Moore is expected to rank high on the Jets draft board is the amount of interest they already showed in him last season. The team sent scouts along with general manager Darren Mougey to multiple Oregon games to watch him in person. Expect the Jets to continue keeping a close eye on him this season as well, including likely sending a big group to his pro day after the year.

However, the biggest reason Moore will be high on the Jets board is simply because he has the talent to become an elite NFL quarterback. He has impressive arm strength, and according to PFF connected on 30 big-time throws last season. He is also a very good athlete for a pocket passer, showing the ability to buy time in the pocket, move around pressure, and throw effectively from different arm angles. Another strength in his game is his accuracy, especially his ability to consistently hit receivers in stride and allow them to pick up extra yards after the catch.

All of that makes Moore someone the Jets will likely be heavily targeting going into the season.
