Over the past few weeks, there has been much debate about who the Titans should select with the number one pick. Some favored Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter, while others argued for Colorado cornerback Travis Hunter or even Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. However, that debate should now be put to rest following Cam Ward’s standout pro day performance.
A pro day to remember
Ward showcased impressive skills during his pro day, wowing teams with his throwing sessions. He demonstrated a strong arm with great zip on the ball, the ability to throw accurately on the move, and noticeably improved footwork. Notably, a significant portion of the Titans' leadership group, including President of Football Operations Chad Brinker, General Manager Mike Borgonzi, Head Coach Brian Callahan, and Offensive Coordinator Nick Holz, were all in attendance.
This pro day performance only further validated what we saw on film from Ward during his standout season at Miami. The ACC Player of the Year finished the year completing a career-high 67% of his passes for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions. He also displayed high-level NFL traits, including elite arm strength, the ability to throw from various platforms, and impressive overall athleticism.

Ward is the type of quarterback the Titans need, especially after Will Levis's struggles last season. The team has not added any starting-caliber quarterbacks in free agency, with the only notable signing being Brandon Allen, who has started just 10 games and only one in the past three years of his nine-year NFL career.
Ward’s playing style would also be a perfect fit for Tennessee for several reasons. First, his ability to consistently challenge defenses down the field with the deep ball aligns with the aggressive approach Callahan utilized in Cincinnati. Additionally, the team could take full advantage of his athleticism by incorporating sprint-out passing plays as a significant part of their offense.
With all these factors coming together, it’s clear that Ward is poised to be the Titans' number one pick.
