Will Cam Ward throw for his first NFL touchdown when the Tennessee Titans host the Los Angeles Rams in a Week 2 interconference matchup at Nissan Stadium?
Coming off a tough loss and NFL debut against the Denver Broncos in Week 1, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft will be in front of home fans for the first time and expect moments where he will electrify.
Don’t get too excited though, Ward will still show struggles against a tough Rams’ defense led by reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Jared Verse, but can the rookie QB and the Titans’ defense do enough to keep the game close? If it ends up being a slugfest like the Week 1 battle at Denver, Ward could have a chance for some late game heroics.
What the Rams are saying about Cam Ward
With his talent and ability, Rams head coach Sean McVay is very aware of the challenge Ward brings to his defense.
“I thought he did some really cool stuff when you watch what he did in the preseason,” McVay said. “He was obviously an unbelievably dynamic player throughout the course of his career and obviously capping it off with a great finish to his career at Miami. There’s a reason he went No. 1 overall. They were convicted and convinced and he’s a guy that we’re going to have to do a great job of bottling up because he can make plays in the pocket, off-schedule. He’s just one of those guys that’s kind of a gamer, so it’s going to be really important for us to keep him bottled up.”
Can Ward find a way to improvise in the pocket against the Rams?

Cam Ward vs Rams’ pass rush
The biggest challenge in this game is how Ward reacts and adjusts to the pass rush of Verse and the Rams’ pass rush. The Rams are solid against mobile quarterbacks, so Ward will have to be creative in the pocket, not panic and get the ball down field to take advantage of the Rams weak spot in the defense which is the secondary.
In this game, Ward will find ways to get the ball to Calvin Ridley, but other playmakers will have to step up to keep the Titans' offense flowing. The energy from the crowd will lead to some big plays for the rookie, but it won’t be enough to upset the Rams. Expect Ward to throw for close to 200 yards and show off that improvisation in the pocket to connect for his first NFL touchdown. Titans come close, but drop this one to the Rams, 24-16
