Cam Skattebo is a 2025 NFL Draft sleeper no more.

In just one play, the dynamic Arizona State running back bulldozed his way up NFL draft boards as he helped the Sun Devils wrap up the Big 12 Championship.  While the nation has been mesmerized by the running back performance of Boise State’s Aston Jeanty, Scattebo has had his own amazing season running both over and through defenders.

2025 NFL Draft: Cam Skattebo rushes himself into the national spotlight

A powerful back who is hard to bring down, Skattebo broke the internet and the backs of Iowa State with this 47-yard run that not only signified him as a running back, but also has him as a player NFL teams would love to have on his team.

Look at this play that had Skattebo looking like a miniature version of former NFL fullback Mike Alstott:

With the score 10-10 at the time, the run lifted his team and showed his game breaking experience in the national spotlight.  The tough, bruising run was just one play in what was one of the best games ever for Skattebo who finished the game with 170 rushing yards on 16 carries and 2 touchdowns.  He also showed off his ability to catch the ball with 2 receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown.

More on Cam Skattebo:

In all, it was a game and performance that encompassed everything Skattebo has been for Arizona State during the 2024 season.  With a total of 1,568 yards rushing and 19 touchdowns, Skattebo has been one of the best running backs in the nation this season and a player who NFL teams would be crazy to pass on late Day 2 or even early Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft if he doesn’t skyrocket even hither up the board.

In finishing 5th in Hesiman trophy voting, the most slept on running back in the nation had something to say about the player he is and the player he will be on the next level.

“There’s been talks about Heisman and everything, and obviously there’s two other contenders that I think are really good and I deserve the award,” Skattebo said on The Triple Option podcast. “But I felt like I’ve been slept on for a long time, and the fact that I’m rushing the way I’m rushing and also catching the ball the way I’m catching the ball. I mean, the most utilized back, I guess, in Power Four football and I’m doing it at the highest level possible. So why should I not be in that conversation?”

Was that more of a shot at Jeanty?  Who knows, but what all NFL teams do know is that this is a player fanbases will love and a player who can excite the crowd and power his way through defenses with any given play.
