2027 NFL Mock Draft: Jonathan Taylor blockbuster delivers a Colts QB surprise

No. 25 Detroit Lions: Zabien Brown, CB, Alabama

The Lions select Alabama's Zabien Brown to fill their need at cornerback. The blazing cornerback gives them a competitor with high upside and a defensive back who provides strong run support. Expect the Lions to double-dip in this draft at the position since it is deep with cornerback talent.

No. 26 Cleveland Browns: Yhonzae Pierre, EDGE, Alabama

Back-to-back Alabama defenders come off the board as the Browns take Yhonzae Pierre with the second of their first-round picks in this draft. As one of the more instinctive edge rushers in the draft, Pierre's athleticism and power will give the Browns another young talent to pair with Jared Verse off the edge.

No. 27 Denver Broncos: Jamari Johnson, TE, Oregon

The Broncos take Jamari Johnson with the No. 27 overall pick. With a need for more explosiveness in the passing game, the pass-catching tight end gives Bo Nix another option in the quick passing game while using his athleticism to create yards after the catch.

No. 28 Tennessee Titans (via Chicago): Trevor Lauck, OT, Iowa

The Titans use the second of their first-round picks to secure the tackle position. With the No. 28 overall pick acquired in the blockbuster deal with the Chicago Bears, the Titans take Iowa tackle Trevor Lauck. An elite pass protector, Lauck will give Cam Ward more time in the pocket. He'll also add some nastiness to the Titans' offensive line along with stability.

No. 29 Buffalo Bills: Brauntae Johnson, S, Notre Dame

Safety is one of the consensus top needs for the Bills, and they take care of that need with the selection of Brauntae Johnson. The Notre Dame star brings both versatility and a ball-hawking mentality to the Bills' defensive backfield that should help make Buffalo a more viable defense in 2027 and beyond.

No. 30 San Francisco 49ers: Carter Smith, OT, Indiana

The 49ers take Indiana's Carter Smith with the No. 30 overall pick. With a need to replace longtime left tackle Trent Williams, the 49ers will explore a few talented tackles at the end of the first round but ultimately select Smith. The Indiana standout is allowing just a 3.2 percent pressure rate and zero sacks so far through the 2026 season. That has earned him an 87.7 pass-blocking grade, according to PFF.

No. 31 Kansas City Chiefs: Cayden Green, OT, Missouri

Given the uncertainty surrounding the future of Josh Simmons, the Chiefs select Cayden Green with the No. 31 overall pick. The team has needs at receiver, tight end and along the defensive line, but protecting Patrick Mahomes is priority No. 1. At 6-foot-5, 324 pounds, Green is a big anchor on the left side who doesn't allow sacks. So far during the 2026 season, the Missouri tackle has allowed zero sacks and zero quarterback hits in over 200 pass-blocking

No. 32 Indianapolis Colts (via Minnesota): Trinidad Chambliss, QB, Ole Miss

With the pick obtained in the blockbuster deal for Jonathan Taylor, the Colts take a quarterback in Trinidad Chambliss, who has top-15 value. His size is the reason he falls in the first round, but his leadership, dual-threat ability and efficiency passing the ball make him a great building block for a franchise looking for a reset. Does this mean the team moves on from Daniel Jones? That is an enthusiastic yes! After trading away established veterans and acquiring additional draft capital, Indianapolis takes its biggest swing yet by targeting a potential franchise quarterback at the end of the first round.
