The 2026 NFL trade deadline is still over a week away, and blockbuster deals are already shaking up the league. With the Indianapolis Colts moving Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner and the Tennessee Titans trading Jeffrey Simmons to the Chicago Bears, teams are wasting no time making moves. Could another blockbuster reshape the 2027 NFL Draft?

One name floating out there is Colts running back Jonathan Taylor. As reported by Adam Schefter, Indianapolis is reportedly open to trading the star running back, but will the asking price be too steep?

Could the Colts gain a first-round pick for Taylor?

In this mock trade scenario, the Minnesota Vikings, who currently hold the No. 32 overall pick, are willing to make that move. Indianapolis sends Taylor and a 2027 fourth-round pick to Minnesota in exchange for No. 32 overall. Following Chicago's blockbuster deal to acquire Simmons, could this be the type of move Minnesota makes to counter its NFC North rival?

The bigger question is whether the Vikings should surrender their first-round pick for Taylor. For Indianapolis, the potential deal adds another intriguing layer to a rebuild that could reshape the franchise.

For the Colts, the intrigue centers around what they do with that additional selection. With blockbuster trades already shifting the draft board, Indianapolis could find itself in position to make a franchise-changing decision.

2027 NFL Mock Draft: Jeffrey Simmons trade reshapes the top 10

No. 1 Los Angeles Chargers: Jeremiah Smith, WR, Ohio State

The Chargers make two headlines with this selection. The first is they hold onto Justin Herbert and establish their faith in the franchise quarterback. The second headline is they make Jeremiah Smith the first player off the board in the 2027 NFL Draft to give Herbert a talented playmaker who has the tools and pedigree to make a major impact for the Bolts on Day 1.

No. 2 Tennessee Titans: Colin Simmons, EDGE, Texas

The Jeffrey Simmons blockbuster not only gains the Titans an additional first-round pick, but it also sets the stage for Colin Simmons to become the first defensive player off the board. So, Titans fans, don't get rid of your Simmons jerseys just yet. There's another defensive stud heading to Tennessee. This one provides pure energy off the edge and gives the Titans that game-changing outside pass rusher they have been looking for.

No. 3 Miami Dolphins: Drew Mestemaker, QB, Oklahoma State

The word on the street is Drew Mestemaker may not be ready to declare for the 2027 NFL Draft. His production on the field says otherwise, and so do the Miami Dolphins, who make the Oklahoma State star the first quarterback off the board. With his talented arm and ability to make plays with his legs, the Dolphins draft a quarterback with the potential to become their most talented at the position since Dan Marino.

No. 4 Washington Commanders: Leonard Moore, CB, Notre Dame

The Terry McLaurin injury makes wide receiver more of a need for the Commanders in the 2027 NFL Draft. But finding star power in the secondary is also a big need for the franchise. With a top-five pick, they go with the best available player at either position, which lands Leonard Moore with the No. 4 overall pick. With the emergence of Antonio Williams, the Commanders can add at wide receiver later in the draft. In selecting Moore, they get a building block in the secondary who can carry them well into the future.

No. 5 Houston Texans: Trevor Goosby, OT, Texas

One of the top tackles in the draft stays in Texas. With the No. 5 overall pick, the Texans select Trevor Goosby as they upgrade the tackle position and keep C.J. Stroud clean in the pocket. At 6-foot-7, 310 pounds, Goosby is an elite pass protector who also has the quickness and agility to get out in space and block in the run game. A massive addition for the Texans offense.

No. 6 Philadelphia Eagles: Jordan Seaton, OT, LSU

Back-to-back tackles go off the board in the top 10 as the Eagles find their Lane Johnson replacement with the selection of LSU's Jordan Seaton. In rebuilding the offensive line, the Eagles get a mauler who is elite in pass blocking and excels at getting to the second level and taking care of linebackers in zone schemes.

No. 7 New York Jets (via Indianapolis): Darian Mensah, QB, Miami

While Darian Mensah still needs to prove what he can do in big games, his quarterback play so far remains top-notch. As a Heisman frontrunner, Mensah leads an offense that is one of the most explosive in the nation. He does it by staying patient in the pocket, using his legs when he needs to and getting the ball into the hands of his playmakers. Sounds like a quarterback who can bring an offensive spark to a Jets offense that has the talent to be more effective than it currently is.

No. 8 Arizona Cardinals: CJ Carr, QB, Notre Dame

The Cardinals select CJ Carr as the third quarterback off the board in the top 10. The storyline here is that by drafting Carr, the Cardinals would reunite the Notre Dame quarterback with Jeremiyah Love in Arizona. Carr did have a blip on his résumé against BYU, but he is a precision passer with elite accuracy who has the maturity to take what's underneath in the passing game. Carr is not going to wow anyone with his arm, but he's a surgical technician in the pocket who can excel under Mike LaFleur.
