2027 NFL Mock Draft: Darian Mensah lands with Cleveland as Round 1 takes shape
No. 9 Cleveland Browns: Darian Mensah, QB, Miami
Through three games, Darian Mensah has completed 71 of 79 passes for 873 yards and 11 touchdowns.
He has yet to face a major test, but what he has shown so far should have a team like the Browns watching closely. Even if Cleveland is selecting higher than No. 9 by the time the season is over, Mensah should be high on its draft board.
After another stellar performance in Week 3 against Wake Forest, Mensah is not only making a statement in the Heisman race, but he is also making his case as a top-10 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
No. 10 Washington Commanders: Cam Coleman, WR, Texas
The Commanders make Cam Coleman the second wide receiver off the board.
Standing at 6-foot-3, 204 pounds, the Auburn transfer has a big opportunity to raise his draft stock catching the ball from Arch Manning at Texas this season.
After a strong debut, Coleman was relatively quiet in the team's win over Jeremiah Smith and Ohio State in Week 2, but the talent is off the charts. Jayden Daniels and company get their WR2 and eventual successor to Terry McLaurin.
No. 11 Los Angeles Chargers: A.J. Holmes Jr., DL, Texas Tech
NFL Mocks identified Kade Pieper as a strong fit to address the Chargers' need along the interior of the offensive line, but this is a bit high for any of the prospects who could fill that role.
So, we turn to another position of need.
A.J. Holmes Jr. is selected to help anchor the interior of the defensive line. At 6-foot-3, 300 pounds, Holmes is an elite run stopper with interior pass-rush potential who could make that defensive front stronger, younger and more impactful.
No. 12 Miami Dolphins: Charlie Becker, WR, Indiana
The Dolphins are expected to be a team selecting in the top 10 of the 2027 NFL Draft, but after Week 1 and despite starting the season 0-1, they are currently just outside the top 10.
That begs the question: Do they take a quarterback or continue adding talent around Malik Willis?
The answer is Charlie Becker.
A wide receiver who catches just about everything that comes his way, the Indiana star paired with Caleb Douglas could transform the Dolphins' offense into a formidable one. That's assuming Douglas continues growing into a top target in Miami.
No. 13 Denver Broncos: Will Echoles, DL, Ole Miss
The Broncos aren't expected to draft this high, but if they continue to get run through and run over like Kenneth Walker III did in the Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, they may lose more games than expected.
With D.J. Jones near the end of his career, defensive line depth was already a concern. It is even more of a concern now.
The selection of a space-eating interior lineman like Will Echoles is the remedy the Broncos need. But he may just be the centerpiece in Denver's revamping of the defensive line.
No. 14 Cleveland Browns via LA Rams: Matayo Uiagalelei, ED, Oregon
With two first-round picks, the Browns can afford to take a swing with the selection acquired in the Myles Garrett trade.
At 6-foot-5, 265 pounds, Oregon's Matayo Uiagalelei comes with high upside due to his scheme versatility and elite first-step pass-rushing ability.
He doesn't replace Garrett, but he adds to the young nucleus the Browns have on defense led by Jared Verse and second-year defensive lineman Mason Graham.
No. 15 New England Patriots: KJ Bolden, S, Georgia
The Patriots signed veteran Kevin Byard III as a short-term option at safety.
With the selection of Georgia's KJ Bolden, they get a long-term option who they can pair with second-year safety Craig Woodson in the defensive backfield.
With the team locking up Christian Gonzalez long term, the addition of Bolden would give Mike Vrabel one of the more talented secondaries in the NFL.
No. 16 Detroit Lions: Ellis Robinson IV, CB, Georgia
The Lions couldn't stop Josh Allen through the air on Thursday night.
Well, there aren't many defenses that can.
However, after also giving up more than 400 passing yards to Tyler Shough in Week 1, the need is obvious. At No. 16, standout Georgia cornerback Ellis Robinson IV adds elite speed and a knack for getting his hands on the football after recording four interceptions and seven pass breakups in 2025.
