More offensive firepower comes off the board
No. 9 Atlanta Falcons: Cam Coleman, WR, Texas
It’s starting to look like the Atlanta Falcons could be one of the teams in the hunt for a quarterback in the 2027 NFL Draft.
There is still hope that third-year quarterback Michael Penix Jr. can stay healthy and prove he is that guy. The Falcons could still land a quarterback in this draft, but maybe not this high depending on Penix’s performance. So, the selection here is Cam Coleman.
The outstanding wide receiver is off to a great start catching passes from Arch Manning at Texas and has the talent to prove he belongs in the top 10 next April.
With the Falcons, Coleman would have an opportunity to become the WR2 they are looking for opposite Drake London. Along with Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson, Atlanta's offense would be loaded.
But what about quarterback?
No. 10 New Orleans Saints: Colin Simmons, EDGE, Texas
The New Orleans Saints get their Cam Jordan successor at No. 10 with the selection of Colin Simmons.
The outstanding junior edge rusher was quiet against Texas State, logging just one tackle, but he won’t stay quiet for long. Standing 6-foot-3 and 246 pounds with explosive pass-rushing quickness, Simmons should be up for the matchup against Julian Sayin and Ohio State in Week 2.
The Saints will be one of many NFL teams with their eyes on this game. If Simmons proves his dominance against the Buckeyes, his draft stock will climb.
No. 11 Washington Commanders: Ryan Wingo, WR, Texas
With the top two wide receivers off the board, the Washington Commanders select Ryan Wingo with the No. 11 overall pick.
This may seem high, but after his Week 1 breakout performance, NFL Mocks is projecting Wingo as one of the draft's biggest stock risers as the season moves forward.
In the Longhorns’ 59-7 blowout victory over Texas State, Wingo hauled in seven catches for 121 yards and a touchdown.
With his size at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, elite speed and run-after-catch ability, Wingo would give the Commanders a running mate for Terry McLaurin while also giving them their future at the position.
No. 12 New York Jets via Indianapolis Colts: Ellis Robinson IV, CB, Georgia
A team that did not record an interception all season in 2025 gets a cornerback who serves as a major reinforcement in the secondary.
With the selection of Georgia’s Ellis Robinson IV, the Jets get their Sauce Gardner replacement.
After allowing just a 42.9 percent completion rate, Robinson will have quarterbacks looking away from his side of the field. He has the athleticism and ball-hawking ability to eventually lock down an entire side of the field in the NFL.
No. 13 Pittsburgh Steelers: CJ Carr, QB, Notre Dame
Aaron Rodgers made it clear he will not return for the 2027 NFL season. Unless Drew Allar or Will Howard gives Mike McCarthy confidence that they can be the future under center, the Steelers dip into this deep and talented quarterback class with the selection of Notre Dame’s CJ Carr.
Carr, another early Heisman candidate, kicked off the 2026 season by completing 19 of 29 passes for 239 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 41-3 victory over Wisconsin.
His quick processing and ball-placement skills will intrigue McCarthy at this spot in the draft.
No. 14 Minnesota Vikings: KJ Bolden, S, Georgia
The Vikings need to figure out the J.J. McCarthy conundrum. Is he the guy, or isn’t he?
Minnesota needs an answer before settling for another short-term option like it has over the last few seasons.
With the top-tier quarterbacks off the board, the Vikings address one of their next biggest needs with KJ Bolden as the successor to Harrison Smith. Projected as an elite safety prospect, the Georgia star would give Minnesota a bright future at the position.
The question then becomes: Can the Vikings find a quarterback on Day 2?
No. 15 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Kelley Jones, CB, Mississippi State
Now that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have taken care of the Baker Mayfield contract situation, Todd Bowles and company can focus on strengthening other areas of need.
To add more talent to the secondary, they select Mississippi State cornerback Kelley Jones, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound defender with the size and shutdown potential to strengthen the Buccaneers’ defensive backfield.
No. 16 New York Jets via Dallas Cowboys: Ryan Coleman-Williams, WR, Alabama
The luxury of having three first-round picks is the ability to add talent in multiple areas of need.
In this mock, the Jets landed potential franchise cornerstones in Arch Manning and Ellis Robinson IV. With their third pick of the first round, they turn back to offense by selecting Ryan Coleman-Williams.
An explosive deep threat, Coleman-Williams would complement Garrett Wilson while giving Manning a legitimate No. 2 option at wide receiver.
