2027 NFL Mock Draft: Patriots make bold move as Arch Manning's slide ends

No. 17 New England Patriots: Jadan Baugh, RB, Florida
Patriots fans are starting to get restless with 2025 NFL Draft second-round pick TreVeyon Henderson, primarily due to his vision in the backfield and inability to be a factor in picking up blitzes when he is on the field.
Do the Patriots draft a running back in the first round?
With Florida’s Jadan Baugh available, absolutely.
Baugh would not only serve as Rhamondre Stevenson’s eventual successor, he brings that explosiveness to the running back position that could make Drake Maye that much more dangerous as a play-action passer.
No. 18 Cincinnati Bengals: Chris Cole, LB, Georgia
Georgia linebacker Chris Cole has seen his draft stock skyrocket since the beginning of the season due to his execution on the field and impact in leading an elite Georgia defense.
He lands with the Cincinnati Bengals here, giving the team an off-ball linebacker who brings both physicality and versatility to the second level of the defense.
He can also get after the quarterback in creative and exotic blitzes. A good fit in the AFC North.
No. 19 New York Giants: David Stone, DL, Oklahoma
The Giants find their Dexter Lawrence successor with the selection of Oklahoma’s David Stone with the No. 19 overall pick.
As an interior force who can complement Abdul Carter and Arvell Reese coming off the edge, the 6-foot-3, 312-pound Stone is an elite run stopper who can also create pressure up the middle.
In adding Stone, the Giants will have a trio of elite defenders to carry the defense into the future.
No. 20 Carolina Panthers: Trey’Dez Green, TE, LSU
The Panthers are a big, athletic, pass-catching tight end away from having something special on offense.
With the addition of LSU’s Trey’Dez Green, they get that tight end.
At 6-foot-7, 242 pounds, the athletic Green not only has a crazy elite catch radius, but he is a nightmare matchup for opposing defenses, especially with Tetairoa McMillan also on the field.
No. 21 Detroit Lions: Kelly Jones, CB, Mississippi State
The Lions get their cornerback in Mississippi State’s Kelly Jones with the No. 21 overall pick.
In a deep cornerback class, Jones is in the top five at the position. He is not getting the recognition of Leonard Moore, Ellis Robinson IV or Ashton Hampton, but he also has elite size at the position and dominates in press coverage.
A solid addition for a Lions secondary in desperate need of a star defender.
No. 22 Baltimore Ravens: Greg Johnson, IOL, Minnesota
Greg Johnson has emerged as the top interior offensive lineman in this draft.
He lands with the Ravens, which is an ideal fit given Baltimore’s need at the guard position.
Johnson is great in pass protection and uses his physicality and power to maul defenders in the run game. Playing alongside Tyler Linderbaum, the Minnesota star will help stabilize the interior of the Ravens O-line.
No. 23 Pittsburgh Steelers: Arch Manning, QB, Texas
Arch Manning is in danger of falling out of the first round.
Unless he gets it together and shows why he was considered the top QB in a talented and deep 2027 QB class, he’ll be in this range of the draft because he won’t get past a team like the Steelers.
If any coach can get the best out of Manning and put him in situations where he can succeed, it is Mike McCarthy.
No. 24 Denver Broncos: Jamari Johnson, TE, Oregon
The Broncos are a team with a few needs, but they give Bo Nix a versatile, move tight end in Oregon’s Jamari Johnson.
Although they weren’t at Oregon at the same time, the Nix-to-Johnson connection could be special.
Sean Payton loves “Joker” type tight ends and the Oregon star fits the bill with his ability to stretch the field while also serving as a mismatch in the intermediate passing game.
