Dante Moore's slide ends as quarterbacks start coming off the board
No. 9 Atlanta Falcons (1-2): Trevor Goosby, OT, Texas
Michael Penix Jr.'s Thursday night performance has Atlanta Falcons fans feeling a little better about the future at the position, so NFL Mocks will hold off on the QB draft talk when it comes to the Falcons.
In this mock draft, they address another area of need with the selection of Texas tackle Trevor Goosby. With the sudden retirement of Kaleb McGary, the Falcons will be looking for a long-term option at tackle.
The massive Goosby fits the bill as the first tackle off the board.
No. 10 Dallas Cowboys (1-1): Ellis Robinson IV, CB, Georgia
The Cowboys used their first pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on safety Caleb Downs, who is living up to the hype. Dallas continues redefining its secondary with the selection of Ellis Robinson IV with the No. 10 overall pick.
As the CB2 in this draft, Robinson gives the Cowboys' secondary a viable No. 2 corner to team with DaRon Bland. His physical presence and ball-hawking instincts will help further transform Dallas' secondary.
No. 11 Baltimore Ravens: David Stone, DL, Oklahoma
Oklahoma defensive lineman David Stone is the most Ravens pick ever.
While Stone has a knee injury worth monitoring, his talent in the middle of the defensive line can't be ignored.
The Ravens do have Nnamdi Madubuike and Travis Jones in the middle, but Baltimore must start thinking about the long-term impact of the neck injury suffered by Madubuike. In Stone, they get a younger player with the power and ability to eventually step into that role.
No. 12 Cleveland Browns (1-1): Dante Moore, QB, Oregon
Dante Moore slipping out of the top 10 has less to do with his potential and more to do with how the current draft order is constructed and the needs of the teams selecting ahead of the Browns.
With what the Browns are building offensively with the emergence of rookie receivers Denzel Boston and K.C. Concepcion, Cleveland is a team that could have all the ingredients in place for Moore's talented arm and pocket patience to cook at the NFL level.
No. 13 Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1): CJ Carr, QB, Notre Dame
This is where the quarterbacks really start flying.
After Aaron Rodgers got beat up a bit in the team's Week 2 loss to the New England Patriots, the aging QB may not last the season, which means Steelers fans could see a glimpse of rookie QB Drew Allar at some point.
As far as the 2027 NFL Draft, Mike McCarthy and the Steelers add another young quarterback in CJ Carr to compete with Allar and Will Howard to become the long-term answer in the Steel City.
Advantage Carr given his accuracy, decision-making and leadership.
No. 14 New York Giants (1-1): A'Mauri Washington, DL, Oregon
With the top two defensive linemen off the board, the New York Giants still get a dominant one in Oregon's A'Mauri Washington.
After trading Dexter Lawrence in the offseason, the Giants left a big void at the position. Currently, they have aging veterans DJ Reader and Shelby Harris filling that void, which makes defensive line a major need in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Washington fits that need, and the middle of the first round is a great sweet spot to land him.
No. 15 New Orleans Saints (1-1): Colin Simmons, EDGE, Texas
The Saints find their long-term answer at edge rusher with the selection of Colin Simmons at No. 15.
This is a bit of a slide for Simmons as far as talent and potential, but the Saints won't be complaining. With an explosive first step, versatility along the defensive line and the ability to anticipate the snap, Simmons is the ideal long-term successor to future Hall of Famer Cameron Jordan.
No. 16 Chicago Bears (1-1): Justin Scott, DL, Miami (FL)
The Bears will have decisions to make along the defensive line following the 2026 NFL season.
Those decisions involve expiring contracts and perhaps moving on from veteran Grady Jarrett, leading the Bears to select Justin Scott to help anchor the interior of the line.
Although he is considered a raw talent, his size and speed at the position would immediately improve the depth of the defensive front. Scott also has the ceiling to become an eventual starter.
