The top safeties/linebackers in the 2027 NFL Draft

1. Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, Notre Dame
There isn't much consensus or highly-graded prospects at safety or linebacker as of right now. Only Todd McShay had any linebackers in his mock, and Villamu-Asa was at the top of the list.
Villamu-Asa is a bit undersized as a first-round linebacker at 230 pounds, but if he can bulk up a bit, his 6'3 frame can get him there.
2. Ty Benefield, LSU
Ty Benefield is another player transferring to LSU for 2026 after playing for three years at Boise State.
At 6'2, and over 200 pounds, Benefield has the size to play down in the box, or in coverage.
We saw safety get pushed down early on in the 2026 draft, but Benefield will hope a good season for LSU will keep his name squarely in contention to hear his name called early.
3. KJ Bolden, Georgia
KJ Bolden is an undersized but versatile safety out of Georgia. A little like Malaki Starks was coming out in 2025.
Here is what Reid had to say about Bolden:
"Bolden is an instinctive and intelligent safety, which is why he's tasked with being the communicator on the back end of Georgia's defense. Despite his slight frame (6-foot, 185 pounds), Bolden isn't afraid to run the alley and crash down in run support"
