I had the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons in the "must draft a quarterback" group last month; now that might not be the case.

The Panthers and Bryce Young have been excellent on offense so far this season. They are third in points and eleventh in DVOA, with Young ranked seventh in EPA/DB.

And in Atlanta, things took a complete turn after Michael Penix Jr. was put in the lineup. Penix's injury history may still prove to be his downfall, but the team's offense went from the worst we've seen in years to already 17th in the league in DVOA in just two games with him under center.

Things could go back the other way at some point, and this doesn't mean either quarterback should get a significant long-term contract at the end of the season, but the play of Young and Penix has moved quarterback lower on each team's list of draft needs.

For now, both teams have given themselves a reason to be patient. But three other franchises still have some difficult decisions ahead.
