The Philadelphia Eagles saw their dream to win back-to-back Super Bowls thwarted in a 23-19 Wild Card loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The early playoff exit featured a flaw that has plagued the team all season…a non-exhilarated offense.
With a long offseason ahead, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman will have some work to do to improve both sides of the ball. That could start with whether to part ways with veteran wide receiver A.J. Brown. That decision could determine how the team attacks the 2026 NFL Draft.
As of the end of the season, the Eagles have some key defensive needs that include edge rusher, cornerback and safety, but getting more explosive on offense and surround Jalen Hurts with more weapons is something Roseman will look to address with or without Brown on the roster.
Aside from Brown on offense, the Eagles could be faced with losing tight end Dallas Goedert via free agency. That could open another big need which has been addressed in the latest CBS Sports Mock Draft.
CBS NFL Mock Draft: Eagles add a unique weapon
If tight end becomes a major need, CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson sees the Eagles prime to land the top tight in the draft in Oregon’s Kenyon Sadiq. A playmaker and absolute renegade with the ball in his hand, Sadiq’s versatility as an offensive target could help the Eagles’ offense soar in 2026.
Wilson writes:
“Sadiq oozes athleticism, will run through arm tackles and is used all over the formation. He can be a quick-game target as an outside WR and is used effectively on jet sweeps. He's also one of the best blocking TEs in college football who is an asset on special teams, too. He reminds me of Kadarius Toney in the quick game and Anquan Boldin in space with the ball in his hands.”
Unless there is a better option at wide receiver, the idea of Sadiq in an Eagles uniform is intriguing. He can present as a big wide receiver and provide Hurts with a target who can create after the catch. Even if the Eagles bring back Goedert, adding Sadiq with pick No. 23 would be hard for Roseman to pass up.
NBC Sports NFL Mock Draft: Eagles add some edge on defense
The Philadelphia Eagles will have opportunities to add on offense, but defensively, the Eagles need to fill some holes. One of which is at edge rusher. The Eagles did trade for Jaelan Phillips at the NFL Trade Deadline, but he along with Brandon Graham will be free agents. In a draft deep with edge rushers, NBC Sports predicts the Eagles use their top pick at the position.

As NBC Sports’ Eric Fronton writes, Texas Tech prospect Romello Height is NFL ready and can bring the heat off the edge:
Edwards writes:
“One of the older prospects in the 2025 draft pool, (4/13/2001) the well-traveled Romello Height (6’3/240) played for three different schools (Auburn, USC, Georgia Tech) before delivering a breakout-edge campaign in 2025. Across 598 snaps, he posted 48 tackles, 16 havoc plays, 12.5 TFL, 10.0 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles, acting as Tech’s second major heat source opposite All-American Edge David Bailey. With a blend of explosiveness, finishing ability and versatility, Height has positioned himself as one of the most improved edge defenders in the Big 12 and a legitimate 2026 NFL Draft riser.”
Again, given where the Eagles are selecting, Height could be a value pick and one of those draft selections who come in right away and help the Eagles. But if it comes down to Sadiq and Height at No. 23, the choice is improving the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive punch.
What is NFL Mocks’ selection for the Philadelphia Eagles?
NFL Mocks also has the Eagles selecting Kenyon Sadiq with the No. 23 overall pick in the draft. A player who will remind many NFL fans of Vernon Davis, the athleticism of Sadiq along with his wiliness to put his body on the line as a blocker will give Philly fans an offensive player to get excited about. If he improves his route running, he could and should be an upgrade over Goedert and a player who cn help fill the void if the team does move on from A.J. Brown.
In all, Sadiq is just part of the puzzle for the Eagles’ offensive transformation in 2026, but a dynamic piece of that puzzle. If the option is there at No. 23, take the sure bet on offense and take a shot at pass rusher or other defensive needs on Day 2.
