Which 2026 NFL draft prospects should the Atlanta Falcons have their eyes on in this way-too-early mock draft?
The Falcons took a gamble in the 2025 NFL Draft. To take care of one of their biggest needs, the team selected Jalon Walker with the No. 15 overall pick and traded back into the first round to select James Pearce Jr. with the No. 26 overall pick. Both players should help a pass rush that was non-impactful in 2024.
In trading back up into the first round, the Falcons did give up some draft capital which would’ve allowed them to take care of some other needs. The Falcons did use their next two picks on safeties to help the secondary, but the team could need cornerback help in the 2026 NFL Draft as well as at wide receiver. Atlanta could also use offensive line help and there is a possibility there will be a need at tight end.
In this three-round NFL Mock Draft, we look at potential fits in key areas of need for this NFC South squad.
Falcons continue to build-up on defense
The Falcons traded away their 2026 NFL Draft first round pick to select Pearce. Expect the Falcons to use their top pick on a cornerback in 2026 with the selection of D’Angelo Ponds out of the University of Indiana.

This is a position where the Falcons could double dip. If he declares for the draft, the 5-foot-9, 170-pound cornerback has demonstrated that he can play in multiple coverages. His speed, physicality and competitiveness make up for his small frame. His natural instincts and field awareness makes him a fit in a Falcons’ secondary that will hopefully be better in 2025 with A.J. Terrell leading the way. An upgrade behind Terrell could shape up to be a need if a player like Billy Bowman Jr. doesn’t step up at the nickel spot.
Atlanta continues to upgrade and add depth along the defensive line with the selection of Iowa’s Aaron Graves. With 2024 NFL Draft picks Ruke Orhorhoro and Brandon Dorlus expected to step up in 2025, the Falcons may look to add another versatile defensive lineman to the mix.

At 6-foot-5, 295 pounds, Graves offers that versatility with his ability to play inside or rush the passer. What will attract the Falcons to Graves is his high motor and bullrush from up the middle. The defensive lineman recorded 17 solo tackles in 2024 along with 6 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. As this would mark the third consecutive draft the Falcons have been primarily focused on defense with their top picks, expect the team to use the rest of their draft picks on offense to build around Michael Penix Jr.
