There is a scenario where the New York Jets come out of this draft with their QB of the future without using the No. 2 overall pick to reach out of desperation.  The Jets won’t plan on Ty Simpson still being on the board when they select at No. 16, but the Dolphins going with Chambliss makes this scenario a possibility.  Simpson, who was at one point considered a top 5 pick in the draft, could still impress scouts with a strong NFL Combine and Pro Day.  Although he lacks ideal experience as a starter, his playmaking and leadership at Alabama makes him a QB worth developing.  The key here is getting him in the right system and putting him a position to be successful.

No. 16: New York Jets via Indianapolis Colts – Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama

No. 17: Detroit Lions – Cashius Howell, ED, Texas A&M

No. 18: Minnesota Vikings– Mansoor Delane, CB, LSU

No. 19: Carolina Panthers– T.J. Parker, ED, Clemson

No. 20: Dallas Cowboys via Green Bay – Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee
