Bold Predictions: Aaron Rodgers Wins Fifth NFL MVP Award In Year 1 With The Jets
The New York Jets swung for the fences this offseason by acquiring future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. One could argue that quarterback was the only thing holding the Jets back from playoff contention in 2022, making the trade even more crucial. But behind center is not the only place general manager Joe Douglas upgraded.
The franchise couldn’t have imagined a better debut campaign for its 2022 NFL Draft class. On paper, the first two picks of the most recent class boast similar upside — which should be a terrifying prospect for the rest of the league. Will McDonald already looks like a problem for opposing o-lines as a pass rusher off the edge, while Joe Tippmann has the potential to be a top-five center in the NFL at some point, even if he’s not the Week 1 starter.
Dalvin Cook’s signing provides a boost to the backfield as Breece Hall eases back into a full workload. Rodgers brought some buddies with him at wide receiver, too. Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb spent several seasons with the star signal-caller in Green Bay, bringing much-needed continuity. Mecole Hardman also signed with the Jets this offseason, giving Rodgers an embarrassment of riches in the weapons department.
If the offensive line can remain healthy, an MVP campaign is in the works. Aaron Rodgers will turn back the clock one final time and earn the highest individual honor in the sport for a fifth time. And who knows, maybe Rodgers can reach the promised land and bring a championship to New York. That would be a storybook ending to his illustrious career.
