Super Bowl Reason No. 1: Micah Parsons Carries Defense For Cowboys

The Cowboys have employed some spectacular players on defense over the past two decades. However, none of them rival the type of upside Micah Parsons possesses. I realize how lofty of a statement this is, considering DeMarcus Ware was recently named to the Hall of Fame.

Parsons has a long way to go to catch up with Ware, but the Penn State standout is off to a blistering start. The gifted pass rusher accounted for 14 sacks as a rookie before repeating that number in Year 2. Now, Dan Quinn looks to Parsons to continue his ascension up the league ranks.

To be clear: It isn’t just Parsons and then a bunch of scrubs for Dallas. Trevon Diggs is an elite cornerback, while recent first-rounder Mazi Smith should elevate the run defense to above-average status.

If veterans like Stephon Gilmore, Leighton Vander Esch, and Demarcus Lawrence can command the respect of opponents, Parsons will put up some gaudy numbers; hopefully, en route to a playoff appearance and a couple of January victories.
