New England Patriots

Patriots fans may not want to travel down this road again when it comes to the top name in NFL free agency after DeAndre Hopkins chose the Titans over New England.

When it comes to Bill Belichick and spending money on top talent, there is not much enthusiasm through Patriots Nation that the team would add a talent like Cook.  Like the team’s above, the speculation and rumors have been there when it comes to the Patriots as it was with Hopkins.

But there seems to be a difference in the rumors swirling around Cook to New England.  NFL Insider Adam Schefter was quick to throw caution in the wind when it was believed Hopkins was close to signing with the Patriots.  When it comes to Cook, Schefter is spinning a different tone.

During an appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up” on Monday, the NFL Insider offered some hope.

"“Lets see if they take some of this money that could have been earmarked for DeAndre Hopkins, and try to reallocate it to a player like Dalvin Cook,” Schefter said."

While Hopkins would’ve given the New England Patriots offense that top receiver they have been lacking, a Rhamondre Stevenson and Dalvin Cook duo out of the backfield is the next best thing if not the best option when it comes to the Patriots offense.

With another potential top NFL position duo in Hunter Henry and Mike Gesicki, offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien could be turning back the clock a little and allowing Mac Jones  to orchestrate an offense reminiscent of the Tom Brady offenses where two-tight end sets, receiving running backs and possession receivers diced up opposing defenses.

So yes, Cook in New England would be the most intriguing destination for the mere fact that Belichick needs to show his fanbase he does have a plan on offense.
