AFC South Offensive Rookie of the Year Contender

Anthony Richardson, QB, Indianapolis Colts, Round 1, Pick 4

I vacillated between Anthony Richardson and the Texans’ C.J. Stroud for the AFC South nomination. Still, in the end, it came down to projecting Richardson’s fit in Shane Steichen’s offense, which could look a lot like Philadelphia’s led by Jalen Hurts.

This isn’t to say Richardson will necessarily be better than Stroud, but the combination of a featured quarterback run game plus an effective, complimentary play action and RPO game is likely to result in big numbers for the 6-foot-4, 244-pound quarterback. Expect Richardson to flex his big arm and his 4.43 40-yard dash speed frequently as a rookie.
