No. 4: HC Matt Eberflus Brings Stability To Franchise

Matt Eberflus is a first-time head coach, so the only thing to judge him on is his first year with Chicago. Although the numbers won’t jump off the page, Eberflus brought something that transcends the win column — stability.

After stints with the Cowboys and Colts, Eberflus proved himself as a capable leader of the defense. In Year 1 with the Bears, the team looked committed to one vision compared to the disjointed 2021 disaster. Assuming another year of development for the young talent on the roster, Eberflus’ unit could be surprisingly competitive in 2023.

The excuses are beginning to run dry for Fields at quarterback — fair or not. This coming season will tell us all we need to know about the former first-round talent and the organization itself. Buckle up, I suspect a rocky but fun ride for the iconic franchise; hopefully, with more ups than downs.
