I have spent the month of June watching, breaking down, and grading (just about) every quarterback prospect you can imagine. A few others will surely boost their 2024 NFL Draft stock throughout the upcoming college football season, following in the footsteps of Zach Wilson and Anthony Richardson before them. But right now, here are the six best signal-callers entering 2023.

2024 NFL Draft QB Rankings

No. 1: Caleb Williams (USC)

No clickbait or reaching here as Caleb Williams sits above the rest of his peers at quarterback. While I am not quite in the “Patrick Mahomes” boat, it is easy to see why NFL Draft evaluators love the USC superstar. Williams, a former five-star recruit, displays NFL-caliber arm strength, creativity outside of the pocket, and remarkable ball placement on his passes.

Williams must work on the mechanics, as he can get caught “going through the motions” on dropbacks against lesser talent. Another red flag pops up here with Williams’ tendency to make something out of nothing. At times, he would be better off running out of bounds or throwing the ball away.

Regardless, these are easily correctable issues with NFL coaching. Perhaps Williams shows more willingness to take what the defense gives him in 2023. And, who knows, maybe the 21-year-old signal-caller wins back-to-back Heisman Trophy awards? He is the front-runner to be QB1 at the 2024 NFL Draft.
