Green Bay Packers 7-Round Mock Draft: Post-Aaron Rodgers Trade
Round 3, Pick 78: Isaiah McGuire, EDGE, Missouri
With Rashan Gary on the mend, edge is a bigger need than previously though. Even if Gary heals and signs an extension, Preston Smith won’t be around long-term and J.J. (Kingsley) Enagbare is still a solid number three in the rotation at this point. There will be several options at edge in the third round, and one of them is Missouri’s Isaiah McGuire.
McGuire is an impressive edge prospect that can play on all three downs. He generates a ton of power and pop at contact from an explosive first step, and sometimes will really explode into contact off his third step. He can drive tackles back with that, flatten his angle with good hand usage at contact, and win with an inside move. Powerful edge rushers with length is what the Packers covet, and McGuire could be the guy in the third round.
Round 4, Pick 116: Jakorian Bennett, CB, Maryland
Don’t overlook the corner position for the Green Bay Packers in the 2023 NFL Draft. Gutekunst talked about the depth at the position, and it feels likely that they take one with one of the first five picks they have. Jakorian Bennett is a great fit at corner, possessing the size and speed to play on the boundary. He also has the quicks to play inside and could be the future starter at a position that’s at a crossroads for Green Bay in 2023.
Round 5, Pick 149: Payne Durham, TE, Purdue
The double up at tight end feels inevitable, and it’s here at pick 149 in this Packers mock draft that it happens. While Kraft starts his career as a move player/receiving tight end, Payne Durham can handle some things inline as well. Durham has the H-Back/tight end feel that Josiah Deguara has, and he can win inline while also being a factor in the passing game. His best attribute as a receiver might be finding ways to increase the throwing window at the catch point.
