With the NFL Draft kicking off in less than two weeks, we feature three rounds and analysis for every NFL team in our latest 2023 NFL Mock Draft.
The 2023 NFL Draft is right around the corner! We are starting to hear lots of whispers of what teams plan to do in a couple of weeks when on the clock, but no one truly knows what will happen during the wild event that we call the NFL Draft.
Three-Round 2023 NFL Mock Draft
The draft does truly start this year with the first overall pick, held by the Carolina Panthers who gave up a ton to trade up for, presumably, their quarterback of the future. Word is coming out a lot recently that Bryce Young is their guy, but I say, “Not so fast my friend”.
Who will be the first pick? Will Houston take a quarterback? Will anyone trade up with the Cardinals to lock in the third quarterback? Are Lamar Jackson or Aaron Rodgers on the move? Who does YOUR team pick in the first three rounds? Find out in this latest three-round 2023 NFL Mock Draft with analysis for each and every team.
1. Carolina Panthers: C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State
All the buzz right now has Bryce Young coming off the board first overall to the Carolina Panthers. I still find it hard to believe that they will pass on C.J. Stroud. Right now, about two weeks before the 2023 NFL Draft, is prime time for misinformation. If the Panthers were smart, they would not let anyone know who they are going to select.
Maybe if the word is still firmly Young a day or two prior to the draft I will start to buy in. At this point, I think it could be like a Cleveland Browns situation in 2018. Heading into the draft, it seemed everyone assumed Cleveland would select either the “safe” option of Sam Darnold or the “project” with high upside in Josh Allen. It wasn’t until just before the draft that people got word the pick could be Baker Mayfield.
For me, right now I will listen to Carolina’s own quarterback coach Josh McCown, who compared Stroud to Joe Burrow, when he told Stroud that the two of them will find a court to play basketball when he lives in Charlotte.
Stroud is more of your typical NFL quarterback with his size, arm, processing, and improved movement ability. New Panthers head coach Frank Reich will surely love to work with a player of Stroud’s caliber who doesn’t come with the size concerns that Young has surrounding him. Carolina gave up a TON to move up to number one and I think Stroud is the best bet for the front office to link themselves to.
2. Houston Texans: Bryce Young, QB, Alabama
The Houston Texans will be jumping for joy, as it has seemed apparent for quite some time that Bryce Young is “their guy” in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft. New head coach DeMeco Ryans goes back to his Alabama roots and convinces the front office that the former Crimson Tide quarterback is the guy to turn this struggling franchise around.
If “their guy” goes first overall, there is word that the Texans may pass on a quarterback and go with the top defender in the draft, which would likely be music to Ryans’s ears as a defensive coach, but I would think even he should know how important it is for the team to find their future at the quarterback position.
Young is still a very dynamic playmaker. He can make every NFL throw and is incredibly effective off-schedule and out of the pocket. If Houston is prepared to mold their offense to his strengths, there is no doubt that he can be successful at the next level. I think his size concerns are real and could lead him to struggle as a true pocket passer in the NFL but I think it is a lock for Young to go with one of the top two picks in every 2023 NFL Mock Draft.
3. Indianapolis Colts: Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida
If there is no trade at pick three, I believe these two teams end up with the same players. However, with the threat of a different team moving up with Arizona to take a quarterback, I believe that the Indianapolis Colts will jump up a spot to make sure they get their preferred quarterback that remains. In this 2023 NFL Mock Draft, that player is Anthony Richardson.
Sure, new head coach Shane Steichen and the Colts’ front office could prefer Will Levis, but I think the upside that Richardson has already shown in his short amount of time playing the position proves to them that he is clay they can mold into a top NFL talent.
Steichen was clearly instrumental in the growth and development of Jalen Hurts for the Philadelphia Eagles as the offensive coordinator, so he should be able to do something similar, running a very similar offense, with Richardson in Indianapolis.
https://twitter.com/PFF/status/1646996754624069632
Richardson is insanely athletic. You see it on tape and he backed it up with his testing at the Combine. He is a very talented runner on both designed runs and when scrambling and can still keep his eyes downfield and make eye-popping throws on the run when evading pressure. Sure, he needs to be more consistent with his accuracy but Richardson has an absolute cannon for an arm and I was very impressed with the tape I watched from his playing time at Florida.
4. Arizona Cardinals: Will Anderson Jr., EDGE, Alabama
Whether it is at pick three or pick four, the Arizona Cardinals were bound to end up with Will Anderson Jr. in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft. Most people agree that Arizona is primed to trade down, as they have so many holes in their roster that they could use some extra draft capital to address. Those that disagree argue that the Cardinals can’t afford to move down so far that they move themselves out of position to draft one of the “blue-chip” prospects in this class. Here they are able to do both.
Sure, they don’t get a multiple first-round pick haul like they probably would if they fell all the way down to, say, 11 with Tennessee, 14 with New England, 16 with Washington, or 19 with Tampa Bay, but they are still able to add valuable day two picks in both this year’s and next year’s drafts while still getting the guy they would have drafted all along. Not to mention they save a bit on the contract with the selection being one spot later.
Anderson is widely regarded as the best edge defender in this draft. He was towards the top in the nation in QB pressures throughout his college career, playing at the highest level against SEC talent at Alabama. He is always around the football making plays and will be the cornerstone for the rebuilding defense under new head coach Jonathan Gannon who, like Steichen, left the Eagles to run his own team.

5. Seattle Seahawks: Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia
I thought about going quarterback here, as the Seattle Seahawks met with each of the top prospects prior to the draft, or edge rusher, but Jalen Carter is just too talented to pass up. I know he has some character concerns, both personal and football-related, but as long as Seattle is confident that they can keep his head on straight and that he will be on the football field, they could have landed a steal here at pick five in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft.
Carter is about as dominant as anyone can be on the defensive line. He is big and physical to eat double teams and power through blockers with the quickness and athleticism to shoot gaps and chase down ballcarriers and quarterbacks in the backfield. There really isn’t a weakness to his game when he is on the field and his motor is active, but those are the two concerns with Carter. Ultimately, the talent outweighs the concern that Seattle starts to build their defensive front to help round out an impressive roster that could make some noise in 2023.
6. Detroit Lions: Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois
This pairing was natural in nearly every 2023 NFL Mock Draft I did leading up to free agency. The Detroit Lions clearly needed to reshape their defense this offseason if they want to compete for an NFC North title this season and cornerback seemed to be the clearest weakness on that side of the ball.
With Jeff Okudah already on the roster, the Lions went out and signed two other veteran cornerbacks, Cam Sutton, and Emmanuel Moseley, while also landing C.J. Gardner-Johnson to potentially play in the slot (or at safety). After these free agent deals, it seemed less likely that Detroit would go corner this early in a 2023 NFL Mock Draft. But recently, Detroit traded Okudah to Atlanta for a fifth-round pick, and with two of these three free agents receiving one-year deals, the Lions need a cornerstone for the future of their secondary. Enter Devon Witherspoon.
Witherspoon is a perfect pick for a Dan Campbell-led football team. He is physical, gritty and embodies the “knee-cap biting” mentality that they love in Detroit. Witherspoon can tackle and take on blocks in run support and is physical throughout the route and at the catch point but don’t underestimate his coverage ability and his athleticism to turn his hips, and his speed to stay glued to his receiver down the field.
7. Las Vegas Raiders: Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon
The Las Vegas Raiders have a ton of options at this point in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft and decide to go with the best player on the board in Oregon cornerback Christian Gonzalez. Where Witherspoon is more physical and maybe a bit more well-rounded, Gonzalez is likely even more athletic and toolsy with impressive ball skills and crazy upside.
Gonzalez can come in and be cornerback number one on this Raiders roster, still with a very high ceiling and untapped potential. If Las Vegas wants to compete with the high-flying offenses in the AFC West, not only will they need to transform their offense into one themselves, but they have to at least be able to slow them down a bit. An elite corner like Gonzalez can do just that.
8. Atlanta Falcons: Tyree Wilson, EDGE, Texas Tech
Man, this would be a slam-dunk pick for the Atlanta Falcons in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft. That front office has been working overtime completely reshaping the team’s defense for 2023 and beyond and Tyree Wilson can be one of the final key pieces to have them performing at a very high level moving forward.
Atlanta has been terrible at getting to the quarterback in recent years. They have swung and missed numerous times on first-round edge rushers with tons of upside, but Wilson may be the home run they’ve been searching for. He is a physical specimen that can win in a variety of ways against opposing tackles. Sure, the team just signed Bud Dupree, but that does not stop me from taking the best player on the board, at a big position of need, here with pick eight.

9. Chicago Bears: Peter Skoronski, OL, Penn State
It appears that the Chicago Bears have found their quarterback of the future in Justin Fields. Chicago displayed that belief when they decided to move down from the number one overall pick to acquire more assets (including a proven number one, veteran wide receiver) to help Fields grow and develop.
What they have not acquired yet is a truly dynamic offensive lineman. Peter Skoronski wouldn’t have to go far from Northwestern to Chicago to be that guy for Fields and the Bears. While he played left tackle at Northwestern, many suggest that Skoronski should move inside to guard at the next level.
The beautiful thing about this pick is that Chicago can literally play him wherever they want to. At this point, I am confident in saying that, even as a rookie, Skoronski would be an upgrade at any of the five offensive line spots for the Bears in 2023. I think they may try him out at left tackle and see if he sticks, then worst case you can always bump him inside and you should have a perennial Pro Bowler from this 2023 NFL Mock Draft.
10. Philadelphia Eagles: Nolan Smith, EDGE, Georgia
I came incredibly close to pulling the trigger and selecting Bijan Robinson with this pick, something I wouldn’t be totally surprised to see happen on draft day, but the more I thought about it the more I assumed it would be someone in the trenches.
The Philadelphia Eagles and Executive Vice President Howie Roseman spent their first first-round pick last year on a Georgia defensive lineman and do the same here in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft with edge rusher Nolan Smith.
Smith absolutely turned heads at the Combine with his athletic testing. He is a known leader of the best defense in the nation the past few seasons and would fit the trend for what Philadelphia likes to do in the draft: add depth in the trenches. Smith is still a very raw pass rusher who could spend some time learning from the likes of Brandon Graham and Haason Reddick (who many compare him to) before jumping in and playing significant snaps for an Eagles team that led the league in sacks a year ago.
NFL Network announces that Georgia edge Nolan Smith, at 238 pounds, is the heaviest player with a sub 4.4 40-yard dash (4.39) and vertical over 40" (41.5") in combine history. pic.twitter.com/DnCLZirHyd

11. Tennessee Titans: Will Levis, QB, Kentucky
Our final “big four” quarterback comes off the board here to the Tennessee Titans. While Tennessee drafted a quarterback a year ago in Malik Willis, it is very unclear whether he is part of the team’s future plans and they could already be looking in a different direction. They are rumored to be in trade talks to go up and grab a top quarterback, but in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft, one falls into their laps.
While Willis is a very mobile, run-first quarterback, Will Levis has a rocket arm and, while an effective runner himself, could be more of a pocket passer, operating a pro-style NFL offense. Levis is far from perfect in his own right and would likely sit and learn a lot from Ryan Tannehill, but he does have a lot of physical traits and tools to succeed at the next level.
12. Houston Texans: Lukas Van Ness, EDGE, Iowa
When you have a ton of needs to fill on a roster, taking a player that can sort of stop the bleeding at multiple different spots is always a good idea. While Lukas Van Ness gives the Texans a top player at a top NFL position as an edge rusher, his size allows him to bump inside and provide some value on the interior as well. Van Ness is a physical and athletic freak that can be the Nick Bosa for DeMeco Ryans and his new-look Houston defense.

13. New York Jets: Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio State
The New York Jets are still expected to bring in former NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers to play quarterback for them, at least for this season. Having already brought in two free agent wide receivers to complement 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, what they really need to do is make sure that they can protect him. Bringing in a technician like Paris Johnson Jr. at left tackle would allow a mauler like Mekhi Becton to move over to right tackle, protecting the blindside of Rodgers in 2023 and that of whoever ends up playing quarterback for the Jets beyond.
14. New England Patriots: Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia
The New England Patriots are likely moving on from former Georgia tackle Isaiah Wynn, so they go right back to the Bulldog well for a new fixture at left tackle. Broderick Jones is a beast of a human being, dominating with his size and power. Jones impressed with his athletic testing as well and has the experience playing left tackle in the SEC that teams will likely desire at the next level. The Patriots could end up going in a variety of directions, but with a top left tackle on the board, I think they have to pull the trigger.
15. Green Bay Packers: Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah
Throughout his Green Bay career, the Packers never really provided Aaron Rodgers with a top receiving threat in the draft. While many may think wide receiver regarding that conversation, tight end can be just as important and effective. The Packers need to do everything they can to ensure that Jordan Love will be successful this season and providing him with a dynamic target like Dalton Kincaid would certainly help. Kincaid is the best receiver of this tight end class and would immediately be a huge upgrade over Josiah Deguara who is currently slated to start for Green Bay in 2023.
16. Washington Commanders: Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State
Hearts are broken in Pittsburgh as they fall just one spot short of bringing home the son of former linebacker Joey Porter, but Washington would be ecstatic to bring in a long and physical corner like Joey Porter Jr. Porter Jr. is very physical, just as his dad was, but is also very athletic and has great ball skills. He would immediately be a starting outside corner for Washington, allowing Kendall Fuller to move into a more natural fit for him in the slot for Ron Rivera’s defense.

17. Pittsburgh Steelers: Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee
While they missed out on the corner with the Pittsburgh family ties, the Steelers should be happy with landing a sure-fire starting right tackle in Darnell Wright. While they would still have a long way to go in reshaping a very thin and weak offensive line, adding a mauler and impressive all-around player like Wright would at least give them some stability at right tackle, allowing Chuks Okarafor and Dan Moore Jr. to battle it out at left tackle, barring another move to land a true starter there as well.
18. Detroit Lions: Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas
Finding a landing spot for Bijan Robinson is the hardest thing to do in any 2023 NFL Mock Draft and here he ends up in Detroit to add to an already stacked offense. The Lions seem to hate using D’Andre Swift and let touchdown-machine Jamaal Williams leave in free agency, so they could definitely be looking for a workhorse back of the future. they did give former Bears running back David Montgomery a fairly hefty check this offseason, but I would not let that stop me from bringing in a generational talent like Robinson.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Anton Harrison, OT, Oklahoma
This pick is the definition of drafting for need over drafting the best player available, but the way the roster is looking for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers right now, they absolutely have to get a left tackle. Anton Harrison is by no means a bad player. He is a very solid left tackle with size, athleticism, and experience to come in and play right away for a rebuilding Tampa team who will likely have fellow Oklahoma alum Baker Mayfield at the helm in 2023.
20. Seattle Seahawks: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State
After landing arguably the best overall player in the draft class, the Seahawks snag the top wide receiver in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft, as well. Tyler Lockett isn’t getting any younger and D’Wayne Eskridge has not worked out as the third wide receiver in Seattle. Jaxon Smith-Njigba can play in the slot or on the outside and is a perfect intermediate route runner to the home run and jump-ball threats of Lockett and D.K. Metcalf for resurgent quarterback Geno Smith.

21. Los Angeles Chargers: Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College
We have now broken the seal on the wide receiver position in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft and the Los Angeles Chargers follow suit with a dynamic playmaker of their own. Even with Keenan Allen coming back for 2023, the Chargers need another reliable target for Justin Herbert in the passing game. Zay Flowers is sort of the best of both worlds. He has the quickness, route-running, and hands to be effective out of the slot like Allen and the high-end speed and contested catch ability, even at 5-foot-10, like Mike Williams. This would give Herbert a very promising trio of receivers as LA looks the reshape their offense under new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.
22. Baltimore Ravens: Deonte Banks, CB, Maryland
In a lot of mocks, I had Maryland cornerback Deonte Banks “staying home” and heading to the Washington Commanders. In this 2023 NFL Mock Draft, he doesn’t have to travel far to play for the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore needs to reload at the cornerback position alongside Marlon Humphrey and Banks is another long, physical corner that has the speed and athleticism to stay with any receiver down the field.
23. Minnesota Vikings: Jordan Addison, WR, USC
We took a quick break, but we’re back with another wide receiver. This time it is the Minnesota Vikings tabbing former Pittsburgh and USC star Jordan Addison as the running mate for Justin Jefferson. Addison is a silky smooth route runner who has proven to be effective from the slot and lined up outside. He can slide right into the Adam Thielen role of this offense and I don’t think Minnesota will skip a beat.
24. Jacksonville Jaguars: Brian Branch, DB, Alabama
Most people view Brian Branch as the top “safety” in this draft class. When you watch the top, though, Branch primarily played in the slot during his time at Alabama. Wherever defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell decides to deploy him, Branch will make plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars. I think he starts right away in the slot in nickel packages and can push for a starting safety spot in base with Andre Cisco and Rayshawn Jenkins. I think he will be the centerpiece of the future for the Jags secondary and will help them take control of the AFC South.

25. New York Giants: O’Cyrus Torrence, OG, Florida
Many mock drafts have the New York Giants selecting a wide receiver in the first round, but with the players that are still available on the board, I am running up my card with the name O’Cyrus Torrence on it. Not only is it such a great name, but he is such a great player. Torrence should be exactly what the Giants are looking for. He is big, physical, and dominant, particularly in the run game. After drafting Andrew Thomas and Evan Neal in recent years to bookend the line at tackle, New York needs to turn their attention to the interior of the offensive line, and adding Torrence is a great place to start.
26. Dallas Cowboys: Quentin Johnston, WR, TCU
The Dallas Cowboys love their Texas school prospects and land a player that was once viewed as nearly the consensus Wide Receiver 1 of this draft class. Things have shifted more recently to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, which I believe is correct, but Quentin Johnston could still be a very impactful player at the next level. He would give Dak Prescott and the Dallas offense another down-the-field, jump-ball threat who is also very effective with the ball in his hands. Jerry Jones and Will McClay give head coach and new offensive play caller Mike McCarthy a new weapon to deploy in hopes that they can take the next step towards a Super Bowl run in 2023.
27. Buffalo Bills: Trenton Simpson, LB, Clemson
With Tremaine Edmunds leaving the Bills in free agency, Buffalo desperately needs another athletic linebacker to fill the void. Matt Milano is still in the fold, but the Bills really don’t have much beyond him. Trenton Simpson is a little raw to be relied upon to play a lot right away, but all the physical tools and traits are there for head coach (and maybe defensive coordinator?) Sean McDermott to mold him into a top player at the position.
28. Cincinnati Bengals: Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame
The Cincinnati Bengals must do everything they can to help Joe Burrow succeed. Providing him with another offensive weapon is not a bad way to do it. While the team signed former Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. this offseason, his injury history has to have them concerned. Either way, Michael Mayer is a much better blocker and will be the true number one, every down tight end on this Bengals roster from day one.

29. New Orleans Saints: Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson
The New Orleans Saints have lost quite a few defensive tackles over the years with Sheldon Rankins, David Onyemata, and Shy Tuttle all recently signing elsewhere in free agency. The team did sign former Chief Khalen Saunders, but they still have a long way to go if they want that room to be formidable. Bryan Bresee, a former five-star recruit, is a great complement to Saunders and could develop his game alongside Cameron Jordan. You see the flashes of potential on tape with Bresee and at the next level in New Orleans, he could truly put it all together.
30. Philadelphia Eagles: Calijah Kancey, DT, Pittsburgh
Calijah Kancey is a player that I am not as high on as a lot of other people, but he still goes in the first round of this 2023 NFL Mock Draft. Kancey finds a way to get into the backfield and to the ball carrier on tape, but you have to worry about how his game will translate to the NFL. With his height, weight, and particularly his length, I don’t see how he can become an every-down player at the next level. However, in Philadelphia, especially early in his career, he won’t have to. He is the perfect complement for a monster nose tackle like Jordan Davis and could be a valuable piece of that impressive Philly defensive line rotation.
31. Kansas City Chiefs: Myles Murphy, EDGE, Clemson
There are a few different routes the Kansas City Chiefs could take with the final pick in the first round of this 2023 NFL Mock Draft. It seems like we have said each of the past couple seasons that the team has some holes it needs to fill, yet they still come out as the top team in the league.
After losing Frank Clark and Carlos Dunlap in free agency, I think the biggest need for Kansas City may be on the edge. They have a good young player in George Karlaftis and signed free agent Charles Omenihu, but I think Myles Murphy is just too good to pass up. Murphy impressed with his athletic testing at his pro day and I really liked his tape. He is explosive, long, and physical, giving defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo some more juice on that defensive front.

2023 NFL Mock Draft: Second Round
32. PIT-Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State
33. HOU-Cam Smith, CB, South Carolina
34. AZ-John Michael Schmitz, OC, Minnesota
35. IND-Julius Brents, CB, Kansas State
36. LAR-BJ Ojulari, EDGE, LSU
With their first pick in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft the Los Angeles Rams, who have maybe the most depleted roster in the NFL, go with the best available player. BJ Ojulari has first-round upside (like his brother Azeez did, who ended up as a second-round pick of the New York Giants) that will fill the Leonard Floyd role as an explosive and versatile outside linebacker who can get after the quarterback.
37. SEA-Joe Tippmann, OC, Wisconsin
38. LV-Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee
39. CAR-Keion White, DL, Georgia Tech
40. NO-Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee

74. CLE-Derick Hall, EDGE, Auburn
The way the board fell for the Cleveland Browns, picking here for the first time at pick 74 in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft, the best available player is a long and explosive edge rusher that can work for playing time opposite of Myles Garrett on the defensive end.
75. ATL-Devon Achane, RB, Texas A&M
76. NE-Rashee Rice, WR, SMU
77. LAR-Noah Sewell, LB, Oregon
78. GB-Jammie Robinson, SAF, Florida State
79. AZ-Blake Freeland, OT, BYU

100. LV-Moro Ojomo, DT, Texas
101. SF-Jaelyn Duncan, OT, Maryland
102. SF-Jayden Reed, WR, Michigan State
The San Francisco 49ers do not pick until the compensatory section of the third round in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft, but they do currently own three of the last four selections of the round. Here they land a small, but mighty, cornerback with NFL family ties, a promising young tackle who can develop behind Trent Williams, and a dynamic slot receiver that can be deployed creatively in Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
